OMD interview

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

Was in town today and saw HMV were doing 2 cds for £10. Got OMD's History Of Modern as one of the two...it's bloody fantastic. A band this far into their career have no right making an album that good!
Mr. Brian, I find that offensive.

Scouser's inability to se others' point of view is rather grating.

Sounds like I'll have invest. I bought 'Messages' a few weeks ago, the singles / dvd collection and I'd forgotten how good OMD were until I listened to it (apart from an extremely high incidence of terrible knitwear unseen since the days of Noel Edmonds' Swap Shop).

Don't keep us in suspense Scouser, what was your other purchase in the two for a tenner deal?
Purveyor of the 'semi-predictable one-liner (which) embodies the essence of the type of comedic crap we grew to love here. VB is a crazy fool'

they were on radcliffe & maconie just before christmas and they said it was more or less - well the original version but thought it sounded to similar to something else and they couldn't get the words. Apparently been attempts at resurrection before but this was the first time they've finished it and felt comfortable with it sounding like whatever it sounds like. UNless they were on a windup that is.

Tourist History by Two Door Cinema Club. Great little album.

Half-asleep cabaret vibe? Ahem ...

went to see em in Oxford last night - and you'd have to say there was a high level of cabaret vibe about it, v professionally done but cabaraet all the same, lots of audience participation and over-the-head hand clapping. 90 minutes of mcclcsky's famous dad dancing and bouncing all over the stage. Plus great stage set & lights and all that stuff - and all really good too (just in case you thought that might have been a criticism. Did some new stuff though if he hadn't have told us I wouldn't have noticed. Both McClusky and the other bloke (harrison??) looked to be having a great time. I said something about the audience not being like what you get at the average bunnymen gig and Mrs FC pointed out that there were loads of women and a few blokes as opposed to loads of blokes and a few women. In fact, if you were out on the pull looking for middle aged women you could do worse than attend an OMD gig.

Mrs FC booked it and didn't see anything about a support band. Was a three piece, synths, violins and those pretend drums - all seeemed a bit static and rooted in kraftwerk (not that I'm an expert in electronic music), and at the same time I'm thinking that the bloke in the middle, singing looked a bit familiar and a bit old to be the support band - or i an up=and-coming support band. Anyway then he did 'burning car' and it clicked it was john foxx. doh. Handful of stuff I wouldn't mind hearing again though.
