Stop Press!!! No Killing Moon.

Just got back from the academy. Gig was top notch. good atmosphere,
people seemed really up for it, but equally a bit nervous.

Crocodiles- Went by without a hitch, word perfect, Mac sang like a bird, despite
his new lazy version of Rescue. Happy Death Men was weirdly the highlight of that bit. Took a video of Pictures On My Wall, which I will put up. Choose a song that you
wouldn't think of recording.

HUH- Mac sang better here, but the rumours are true, he can't remember Turquoise Days, though NDT and All I Want were almost right. took a film of It Was A Pleasure.
Over The Wall and HUH were the best bits here.

Greatest Hits, with Lips, Dancing Horses, NLF and of course The Cutter.

And yes it is true, no Killing Moon.

Will played a Tele, Strat and that 12 string on Pictures, brought out the Jaguar
for the Encore.

It's well worth seeing, so if you are one of those people who know about this forum
but isn't a member, but can read the posts, get down to the nearest venue and
support the lads by buying them a ticket. You won't regret it.

Looks like you recorded two particular tracks that I am waiting to hear more than any others. Look forward to seeing those vids. I just want someone to film Happy Death Men, which by all accounts is the highlight of the whole show.

Apologies if it sounds and looks a bit grainy.

Just to echo crys's review. Very good gig indeed. Sound was pretty much perfect from where I was. Didn't seem that loud so it seemed, but the guitars were crystal, Mac was a bit wobbly here and there but didn't really matter as it all cracked on at a rare old pace. Lots of banter between songs. Couldn't really see what Will was playing, guitarwise as you couldn't really see him in the fog, or the rest of the band for that matter - classic, the mrs keeps saying - but you cant see them!!!. Only started to clear towards the end. Must say, there were places where it all seemed abit weird, in a good way - just hearing these songs often with a bit of a twist, and like crys says, happy death men was a superb if a bit strange.
can't say I'm concerned by no KM. Been a bit tired the last couple of times they've done it. In fact I could have done without the 'hits (lol)' encore, though they did lighten the mood somewhat, BOTDH was better than I've heard it the last few times, and cutter always seems to get the place bouncing. Mac threw a bit of the fountain into NLF just as it went into walk on the wild side

Thanks for the reviews. Don't think I'd miss KM myself, though I have missed the Ocean Rain finale in the last two gigs I've been to.

Great stuff Crystal89, particularly the It Was A Pleasure with the voice effect thing - actually sounds better than I thought it would - and Pictures On My Wall, which should have been the Bunnymen's set for ages. Mac's vocals on Turquoise Days don't really work for me although the guitar terrific.

Pleasure is simply intoxicating. Might they get their balls back after doing these tunes and make some good new tunes? Maybe let in a third songwriter who is a drummer? And their old bass player?

Good stuff, crystal, thanks.

What's weird is Mac's voice sounds like shit on TD but pretty cool on It Was a Pleasure, but there seems to be less range involved with TD.

Anyone have a vid or link to Happy Death Men? I'd love to hear what that sounds like.

There is a vid of Happy Death Men, which I have posted below. But the sound and picture quality is really really awful.

Also posted is A Promise made by the same person, again poor quality but at least it demonstrates the Mac has made more an effort this time than the Barrowlands one with James whatshisname from Glasvegas - actually singing parts in a high vocal. He seems to going at it on Heaven Up Here as well. Looking forward to hearing all these properly [s]tomorrow[/s] today now.

Cool, thanks for vids, guitar!

The sound quality could be worse. Mac's voice sounds pretty good.
