Weezer to split?

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

I fixed that article for you with some minor editing...

Bunnymen are being offered £6.25 million to split up.

An online petition at bummymen.com is calling on the band to pack it in and is calling on those who dislike the group to pledge money towards the golden handshake.

"Every year, Ian McCulloch swears that he’s changed, and that their new album is the best thing that he’s done since 'Ocean Rain', and what happens? Another pile of crap like 'Proxy' or 'Stormy Weather'," wrote the campaign organizer Fat Cherry of his reasons for wishing the Bunnymen gone.

"This is an abusive relationship, and it needs to stop now. I am tired of my friends being disappointed year after year. I am tired of endless whimsical cutesy album covers and music videos."

Cherry is therefore calling on disappointed fans to help raise the £6.25m fee.

"If all 52,000 of you (really?) who bought 'Ocean Rain' pitch in £7.5, we will meet our goal," he notes.

Fortunately for fans of the band, the petition has so far only raised £7.5, suggesting the band's future is not in doubt.

Myself, Dr Cheese, Scouser and a few others had a whip around and the good news FC is that we have raised the £6.25 million, thanks also to funds from the kind Nigerian Dr Abedeley Bewellie Dobelly who said that he will deposit about 75 per cent of the money if I give him my bank account and credit card numbers, which I will be doing in due course.

It was a bit difficult and we nearly fell short. King of Kings had most of the money deposited in a Swiss bank account from the royalties that he has raised over the years by appearing in Adam and the Ants' Stand and Deliver video, but despite his regular rants about the Bunnymen not being like they used to, he actually was hesitant to help pay them to split as he secretly likes them still. Black Francis said he'd wire some money towards it, but then remembered that he quite likes Life of a Thousand Crimes, so changed his mind. He is also keeping some money back to get Bronski Beat to personally "perform" for him, so.

Anyway, I will put the cheque in the post shortly. I have made it out to "Mr Fat Cherry Esq" so it should clear through your account very quickly.

aww, thanks bunnychums. but is that maths a bit iffy? and it seems the bloke from the band reoplied saying they'd do it for twice as much.
