Peter Hook to play Unknown Pleasures live in its entirety

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

From what I've heard Freebass are using different vocalists on different tracks, on by a certain Mr Wylie.
Purveyor of the 'semi-predictable one-liner (which) embodies the essence of the type of comedic crap we grew to love here. VB is a crazy fool'

Following the NO split I was anti-Barney pro-Hooky.Ummm.Think I may have got this wrong. To tart around a JD album mimicing a dead singer is not great.Shameless.

why's that then dave? I thought - or so it seems - it was hooky who made the decision. Is that last album any good?

So nine more [s]cash grabs[/s] tribute nights to Ian Curtis huh? Sad to see he won't be playing Los Angeles.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

I think alot of people would go in LA. Coachella did a Joy Division [s]rip off[/s] tribute shirt. Plus, I have been to alot of shows where the 13 year old kiddies can be seen wearing Joy Division t-shirts. So the legend still lives. Kind of like kiddies when I was 13 were wearing Velvet Underground shirts.
I long for the pork of Porcupine. (A slide show dedicated mostly to Will right here.... http://www.examiner.com/rock-music-in-l ... -here-tour)

Last NO album has two good but mostly bad songs-Dracula's Castle is woeful.I used to think Barney was chasing the ££££ and Hooky played the arty card and split the band. How wrong I was!

i thought it was all personality rather than 'musical' differences. Their performance on rossy put me off buying theat album.

Hooky has been doing alot of venting of the spleen and on his myspace blog and in the press - mostly saying barney split up the band before and now it was his turn, or something like that. All I've read from barney i sthat he wouldn't talk about it Though publicly all this was going down when they were publcising Closer and their own DVD so they've shared awkward silnces sitting side by side I htink. I really like the bad luitenant album - all it needs is a snaking bassline and it'd be NO again. Though the additional vocals lead suggests barneys no control freak, at least in this. If he was playing unkown peasures close to home I'd probably go.

People use myspace for anything other than putting up a few songs?

http://thequietus.com/articles/04936-ne ... bass-split

Freebass - the group comprised of Peter Hook, Mani and Andy Rourke - are no more. The band released a statement confirming their split today following a rant from Mani on Twitter.

The former Stone Roses bassist wrote: "Three things visible from space, Great Wall Of China, Peter Hook's wallet stuffed with Ian Curtis' blood money, Man City's empty trophy cabinet!

"I've actually got an ongoing career, so I don't feel the need to exploit my past glories. I exist in the here and the now."

funnily enough, regarding the two string bass playing comment there was a program on telly last night 'I'm in a rock n roll band'

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00sl4mb

taking a funny look at the individual members of a band and their characteristics. Occasionally fiunny I'd say rather than roll about on the floor larfing. Anyway, last night it was 'the other one'. Mostly about bass players but including keyboards, brass and 'the bez', though that did include that bird with massive tits who used to dance for hawkwind. Where was i? er, oh yes. The bass section included one ex stone rose, mani, saying what an original and unique bass player hooky was. obviously not totally at odds with the recent comment, but you know...

That was followed by oil city confidential, concerning the feelgoods. worth a watch I'd say.

Chez.
