Is Ian Listening?

Postby Sick4Tunz » Sun Jan 24, 2010 8:39 pm

This past Friday I strapped on the headphones and listened to The Bunnymen perform live in Anahein, California on December 12, 2005. Will and the band performed flawlessly, almost exactly the way it sounded 4 years later while I was in Liverpool. The show was only limited by Ian's voice: he was struggling, more so than shows I've listented to in the years afterwards. His voice in 2009 was noticably better than his House of Blues performances in 2005.

During the Liverpool shows a month ago I was somewhat suprised to see Ian without that ever present cigarette in hand. Is this because he's finally listening to VT members distressed with how he cares for his voice, or is it simply the result of the laws in the UK probibiting all indoor smoking? I hope he's finally listening and will be taking better care of himself.

When Mac plays the States, he kinda goes loco - doesn't take very good care of himself - particularly in NYC and LA. There are too many distractions, diversions and temptations... his performance suffers, consequently.

With the bigger Liverpool shows, there's a bit more riding on it - his daughters are there, his ex is there, his mates are there... He's gotta put on a good show, or he'll be heckled at the pub for a month.

The blog is very arty with all those photos and Haiku. Cute pics of the fam. I've written about the bunnymen on my blog too.

I hope the same thing, but it's most likely what Frank says since he's been there. NYC and LA are very distracting.
