Ok I have a confession...this will be shocking I know

Tired of discussing the Bunnymen and all the bands that have been influenced by them? This is the place for you.

Ok I have a confession...this will be shocking I know

I really don't care for The Muppets at all. I've pretended for a while but I can't do it any more. They just aren't that funny and I always picture the person down below moving the thing around.

What is your confession?

I start to lose the will to live whenever I think of Sesame Street, it brings back horrific memories of shite Saturday morning tv.

British kids TV of the late 60's / early 70's pissed on the Us equivalents. Its a roll call of brilliant -

Captain Pugwash
Bagpuss
Trumpton
Chigley
Cambelwick Green
The Herbs
Ivor The Engine
The Clangers
Noggin The Nog
Rhubard and Custard
Noah & Nellie
Clopper Castle
Chorlton & The Wheelies
Rainbow
Jamie and The Magic Torch

And not British but still ace -

The Magic Roundabout

Anyone of them pissed all over Seasame Street with its multi racial cast and crap puppets. Plus it tried to teach you things (counting and stuff). We didnt want that, thats what school was for, we wanted strange furry creatures living on the moon talking in whistles and being menaced by the Soup Dragon. Not counting to 5 and shit like that.

The Muppets were crap as well.
Mr. Brian, I find that offensive.

I hate Sesame Street with the exception of Cookie Monster. One episode had Elmo asking Whoopi Goldberg if they could trade skin cause he wanted to be black and she say no. I fell out of my chair laughing.

I've seen one episode with the muppets and it was hilarious. It had Prince and the Muppets were going to sing a song with him and they show up dressed like Purple Rain Prince and one shows up with the butt cut out of his pants.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

Thankfully my generation missed both The Muppets and Sesame Street. We were raised on Hanna-Barbera cartoons, yet The Banana Splits show was kind of freaky.

Sesame street always had this somewhat drab urban 70s vibe to me.

You want to have a miserable time go to Sesame Place.

I remember that show.

Also too old for Sesame Street ... Instead, there was:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/k7cNota7aHs&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/k7cNota7aHs&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

and Romper Room, Bozo the Clown, Saturday morning cartoons including Top Cat and the Pink Panther, and then there was this:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/C-yLYz6ejqw&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/C-yLYz6ejqw&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

and did somebody mention this:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ZL2WeRHqqXo&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ZL2WeRHqqXo&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Yay Gumby!

I loved Romper Room, even when we got older and found out that Miss Jean (our local RR hostess) was an alleged alcoholic. It brought a whole new meaning to "Magic mirror, tell me today. Did all my friends have fun at play?" Ah, good times.
