Those draconian drug laws don't seem too cool.

Yeah I'm gonna pass on my planned trip to Dubai this year.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

"Echo and The Bunnymen were to headline tonight's line-up, but have not travelled to the UAE and have produced "a doctor's note" according to a spokesperson for the one of the organisers of the event, New Dawn."

Dear Mr. Dubai,

Please excuse my patient, Ian McCullough, from having to travel to your city and/or country tonight becuase he's really, really, really sick.

I mean really.

Yours truly.

What is this, grade school? The "synth-rockers" need a doctor's note????? That's too bizarre! All those bands pulling out last-minute, maybe this festival wasn't on the up-and-up, "teething problems" and all.

'A Bez-less Happy Mondays brought day two of Dubai Sound City to a close with singer Shaun Ryder facing a fine for swearing onstage.

The Manchester group, who were without their iconic dancer Bez after he was denied entry into the country, capped a humid second day by mixing their classic tunes with some newer material.

‘Step On’, a track Shaun Ryder referred to as “Top of the Pops,” was epic, while encore ’24 Hour Party People’ proved popular enough to keep fans onsite right until the end.

“Where are we?” Ryder joked at one point, “Blackpool?” But it could be his pre-track chat that gets the group in trouble.

Swearing onstage is prohibited, and Ryder swore twice whilst talking to festival-goers, despite making the effort to change the words to some tracks to accommodate the law. “We had to change the words to that one ‘cause we can’t swear,” admitted Ryder, “you get two years or something.”'

Ian never would have made it out alive. Why did they book this gig if they knew they would infract every rule?
