The show's line-up was probably the worst for a while. Thank god Andy Williams didn't sing that "Music to Watch Girls By" song as seeing an 81 year old jigging his stuff would have made me switch off.

I think Andy Williams was auditioning for the Spaghetti chorus line.Bloke at work 60 "saw your band last night...liked that good song".!!!

Come on dont be too hard on them.Me and Scouser ripped into that tune when they played it at the Xmas show a few years back but it sounds 100 times better now.Funny all I think of with this album is "thank god no Stormy Weather".They were the best thing on the show by far.

Not really being hard. I just can't stand listening to or seeing Think I Need It Too live. I prefer Stormy Weather.

i thought it was OK. bog standard buns performance. though i'd agree about the binman chic. those were thedays when even the bass player had a good haircut. Cerne's missus on the other forum agrees too apparently. I only caught the one song last night, presume the others on the friday show. if they do killing moon i'm going to send my collection back. not that its any of my business and i dont even have the postage at the moment - i could demand they download it from me i suppose.

so then KOK, they finally offed you? how did that go?

Might have been interesting with a Roman Polanski film backdrop?

how do you know that then? were you there? do you work for Jools? Are you a friend of the a friend of the band? we need to know. Interesting choice from the generally, erm, overlooked flowers era.

Observations

It was nowhere near as bad as I feared

The guitar sounded great

Its a better song than Stormy Weather, but in the Bunnymen's heyday wouldnt have got beyond rehearsals

The backing band look like a right load of gimps

If I was a random punter who had lost touch with the Bunnymen for years and then saw that, I'd think "that wasnt too bad in a nostalgic sort of way"

The Bunnymens themselves set the bar so high - can I really punish them for that?

Not awe-inspiring but not a disaster either

Despite worshiping this band as living Gods since I first heard them, I couldn't even be bothered to set the hard drive recorder to catch the show.
To think that there was a time when I would have stayed up all night to catch a glimpse of them. When is the show repeated? And now that everyone seems to be bailing out from this ship of fools, which band is going to be your substitute?
I still haven't heard "November" though, so I might change my mind.

It seems now there is no irony or laughing in the face of destiny like "In Bluer Skies" but a bland acceptance of life's lost dreams.
