From the comments section

I know am going to come off as a grumpy old man here - but the APW crowd (for the most part) are a bunch of twats.

The kids there have no respect for bands like Echo - showing off their ZERO musical knowledge and their attachment to texting useless information during a great gig. (and for watching something l horrid like Crystal Castles (why do these two have a career?)

Fuck em - kids today don't know shit.

kinda agree - at one point Ian was like WTF this is Lou Reed's most famous song - you all should know it and being singing along...

but he got nothing but a chant of "asshole"

Good luck to them with their new target audience.

And that is why I don't like to see them at festivals. Overall the audience typically sucks.

"Listen, All Points West has the best intentions by putting bands like My Bloody Valentine and Echo and the Bunnymen on the lineup, but fact of the matter is that this fest is for the mainstream. People were there for Jay-Z, Tool, and Coldplay.... and probably MGMT who they couldn't even see if they chose to watch Coldplay. MGMT should have opened for Coldplay, and Echo should have headlined the second stage instead of MGMT. Then everyone would have been happy. "

If the band had played the new song sthe kids want to hear, do youthink it would have went off better? Why does the band let old songs only a 50 yr old would want to hear dominate their set?

I take it they have changed their sound to be upbeat and happy because that is what the kids want to hear?

And then there were Echo and the Bunnymen. Backstage frontman Ian McCulloch offered Rolling Stone a stiff drink and a long conversation covering everything from urinating horses to “knock knock” jokes, but onstage band stuck to its formula: they play wondrous songs with minimum fuss, and fans listen with maximum awe. It’s been their working method for 30 years now and it once again proved effective as members of nearly all the day’s other bands hustled over to watch the band play. It was essentially a greatest hits set with the emphasis more on greatest than hits. The band tossed in ad-libs and audibles almost at will (”Villiers Terrace” for instance became “Roadhouse Blues” at the drop of hat while “Nothing Lasts Forever” instantly morphed into “Walk On The Wild Side”) and the Donnie Darko devotees weren’t denied their moment either as “The Killing Moon” aptly rang out as the sun went down.

Hey it looks like Mac took my advice and went shorter with the hair. Lookin' good Mac.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts
