Those bands had huge built in audiences. Also, would you want these four songs to be a young person's introduction to Echo & The Bunnymen?

You only need 20 seconds to know Proxy is the worst Bunnymen song ever.
Mr. Brian, I find that offensive.

Scouser's inability to se others' point of view is rather grating.

I was listening to the new Simple Minds cd again today, it makes what I have heard of The Fountain so far sound even more of an embarassment than I thought.

In reply to the elusive chris_adams.

A sentence he can construct and wit is in abundance.

His comments on the snippets or rather 'hippets' was one of the most entertaining posts I have read on this forum.

To the real Chris Adams can't you take a joke?

Isn't imitation the highest form of flattery?

As for the real snippets themselves on myspace I agree they are not doing the band any favours as the album in it's entirety is rather good.
Maybe it won't measure up to their earlier greatness but it is good to see a band still being creative and not resting entirely on their past glories.

The bunnymen need your support not continual snide comments about Mac and his ego.
Had it not been for Mac's ego would the Bunnymen ever have achieved the great works in the first place?
Would a guitarist like Will (who is unique ) ever have been fortunate enough to find success had it not been for Mac.

Ponder these thoughts as you continually slander the band you apparently love and let people like chris_adams continue to post.

That was my first thought the first time I heard it. Now I'm thinking it's a toss up between Proxy and Baseball Bill.

Morty, you've heard the album? What are the best songs on it? Please don't say Proxy.

Do You Know Who I Am and Drivetime have grown on me. The guitar break in Do You Know reminds me of Clay or something off Porcupine. I think Ian said this album was their new Porcupine, while Siberia was HUH. I like the production and the music sounds good (except for Proxy) just wish Ian would spend a little time with the lyrics instead of churning out the same 'ol uninteresting shit.

Hi Morty

Thanks for the commentary. I think I can take a joke; but I don't think public misrepresentation is all that funny. For all I know, that guy coulda started writing all manner of offensive shit, and it may have been perceived as me doing it. I have no problem with the guy posting to this site, just as long as he does't post AS me. I don't think that's too much to ask. I agree, however, that the faux-beatnik writing style was pretty funny, and lanced my occasional forays into Kerou-wackinees.

Mr Sparkle

'Proxy' is definitely not the best song on the album.
I rather like The Fountain but then we are all differen't you may not agree.

Saw Mac's solo gig at Zeligs and quite liked the new stuff he did.

A new track he did there was rather nice more heartfelt than maybe the bunnymen collaborations of late.

Maybe he is finding new inspiration, so lets hope he brings it into the bunnymen as well.

As frustrated as all fans are for waiting so long for the new album imagine how frustrating it must be for the band.

I was pondering thi before I read this today actually. My answer is the two fail to realize how important the rhythm section is/was. As far as Mac's ego - it gets in the way of letting the song breathe. Will does not get an expressive outlet and space and the song chokes under the weight of Mac's constant lyrical abuse.

My understanding it is Will and Pete and Les that laid the original foundation for the songs that let Mac's ego soar on.

So there you go.

While I'd love to reignite the enthusiasm that I used to have for the Bunnymen. If the album is that good, why would they choose those songs to preview? It hardly fills a fan or someone who happens to stumble across the Bunnymen's myspace page with encouragement. It's actually quite depressing.
