General discussion about the band, live shows, its recordings or bootlegs, etc. You can buy, sell or trade here. You can even post eBay links. If it's about the Bunnymen, it goes here.

I can't remember who they blamed for that one on though.

So tell me about Lancashire. What sort of reputation does it enjoy? I assume it also has major league sports teams etc? (I myself support The New York Yankees, Syracuse University, Barnsley, and Partick Thistle).

The North West of England has two large modern cities (Liverpool and Manchester) boasting four Premiership (i.e top flight) football clubs between them. Both cities have vibrant nightlife, a thriving arts scene, have produced world class bands and have a vast array of shops and markets.

Around these two cities are a cluster of run down post industrial towns struggling to reinvent themselves as some sort of retail / tourist destinations. None of these towns have any football teams to speak of (OK, maybe Wigan). The inhabitants are called "Woolly Backs" due to their close friendships with sheep (if you saw their women you would understand). In the majority of these areas everyone is related.

Its sort of like The Deep South of England. The rural areas and farming communities dont like "outsiders", cluster in run down pubs and race Tractors for kicks. If you think I'm exagerating you should try going to Nelson, Colne or Clitheroe. Everything is in black and white.

In my last two jobs I have had the misfortune of having Lancashire in my sales patch so can speak first hand of the horrors of Burnley.

On the upside there really is some beautiful countryside.
Mr. Brian, I find that offensive.

It's nothing compared to Rochdale.

Wigan and Rochdale are both Greater Manchester. Lancashire has only one Premier League side, Blackburn. In a weeks time it could have one more.

It is a county of rolling hills and warm friendly people. It's a place that people from the slums of Merseyside aspire to be.

My teams, Yankees, Burnley, Accrington Stanley and St Johnstone.

With one sentence it all becomes clear! No wonder those nasty Liverpool lads used to pick on you diddums.

"Dont hit me...I come from the land of rolling hills and warm friendly people!"

Absolute class! (its not even that hilly Wordsworth)

They are all still talking about Bilbo's farewell party.

I was once visiting some friends in the Sheffield area, and they were on the topic of English stereotypes, and they told me this story of how they saw this fellow from Lancashire in London who actually had a pet ferret with him. (I'm pretty sure it was Lancashire now that I think about it.) Apparently him having a pet ferret was quite hilarious because there is some-such stereotype, but that seems awful specific for a stereotype if you ask me.

Did he also have an outside toilet that doubles up as a coal scuttle?

Was his Mother also his Sister?

If so, I'd say its a fairly safe bet he was from Lancashire.

Well then it can't be all bad cause there are definitely worse places than Arkansas.

I would say not New Mexico (that's where my Mom's family is from) but last time I was there some homies tried to rob me so fuck that place.

The area of Oklahoma my dad chose to retire in is pretty awful too.
