And this is why I love 80's Brit rock

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

It was the sheer boredom of the 999th "I love Mac and I want to marry him and everything the Bunnymen have ever done is fantastic" post added to copius ammounts of strong lager that got me kicked off the official forum. I wish I could post you the link.

But it was deleted.

Do I dare say we have Scouser and copious amounts of strong lager to thank for the creation of the Villiers Terrace forum?

I'm enjoying a little Highland Park 12 myself.

I'm a little concerned. The caps are coming off a little too easily and instead of that strong reassuring pssssssssstttt! it's a ssssssssss.....

I'm mean not concerning enough I'm not drinking them but troubling none the less. Well for 12.99 I shouldn't really complain.

Has Siouxie or anyone else surpassed the fantastic "Swimming Horses?"
The last (solo) performance on TV seemed a bit harsh-like Mac on a bad day-I don't know if she's just getting a bit long in the tooth, or if the Banshees, like the Bunnymen were a lot more than the sum of their parts.
As for female artists, I used to quite like Alison Moyet and the Cocteau Twins. Madonna and Lady Ga-Ga rock as well.
Right now I have an obsession with a song called "Stolen Shark" which is by a much less "testosterone fueled" lady.
The macabre lyrics sung in a vulnerable yet emotionally detached way make a strange and chilling contrast.

I haven't picked it up yet but I hear Siouxsie's latest solo album is really good but I think she should partner up with Severin again even if it is not for a Banshees album. Budgie might not be invited on account of the divorce and all.

The band as a whole (if u can even refer to them as that now) have never liked Hyaena much. Most likely stemming from Sioux's continued hatred of Rob Smith. They rarely played any of the tracks off the album, aside from Dear Prudence, after the tour to support it. I'm glad their remastered albums are flowing again, as it sounded like there were problems after either Juju or Dreamhouse re-issue.

I was following the news about the re-issues pretty closely for a while over at Severin's board. It seems as if he has to put in all the grunt work (procuring originals, copyrights, label issues, remastering techs, etc) and then run it by the ice queen. Shit job, but at least the stuff is getting released.

In the last "official" Banshees book, Sioux stated she'd never work with Severin again, which is a shame, but he's probably better off. He's doing solo gigs next month.

As of late, poor Sioux's voice is total shite. Worse than Mac even. At least on the Dreamshow DVD they released there were back up singers to fill in the high parts.

does she hate him or was it the whole thing? She must have been a bit isolated. ... having had the two blikes walk out and then helped along by smithy who treated it as a second job and played the best mates game with severin. Not that I'm makin excuses.

Is tha the 'question and answer' one. THats quite funny in that everything is always someone elses fault. Still looks quite fit though. (sorry, I never really got past that bit with souixsie, she probably made some quite good records but, well).

I can't remember the name of the book, but it's more of a straight bio, although there are extensive interviews with many of the band members.

It sounds like she really dislikes Smith, even to this day. Accusing him of using the Banshees to bolster The Cure, talking shit about his guitar playing, pretty petty bullshit. Smith had put down guitar parts for the Glove EP, and Sioux had them all erased. Nice huh? Apparently Severin gets along with him well enough b/c they were both involved in The Glove re-issue.

Just on Severin's site, more re-issue and a big BBC boxset multi-CD/DVD on the way.

So the T.V. performance wasn't just an off day? Looks as is she's going through what Mac did during the WAYGTDWYL tour. I would have liked to see the Banshees at their peak- I have plenty of their records on vinyl but never saw them live. On the other hand Mac recovered most of his voice in the end, so perhaps there is hope for her. She also looked more shite than normal-she never was an oil painting (unlike Mac) but there was an element of self-parody to the last performance I saw. Of course a female has a higher standard to keep up with when aging than a male.
