Why is Ocean Rain such an impossibly great album?

I think we always want to think that every syllable of lyric is meaningful in some way.

Based on Ian's varied answers about the meaning, I don't think the chorus and the verses have anything to do with each other here. It was a case of having some good lines like "Fate up against your will" and "the killing time, unwillingly mine" building off of that and fitting it into one song. That doesn't make it any less of a great song however and it, like many rock songs and lyrics, can mean whatever it means to the listener.

I don't believe in an intervening intelligent guiding force that watches over or interacts with humanity in any way. Except maybe the Cylon God or Santa Claus.
