A lot of people complain about the state of current indie music. The states has a popular website called Pitchfork.com This presents a lot of bands not yet on major labels

Generation gap warning & disclaimer:

It is currently popular to look like a bearded slob a la ZZ Top with kids under 25.
A charismatic lead singer and very catchy songs are unpopular - a reaction to all pop music that came before.

Keep in mind, too, that the majority of what comes out is always crap - if anyone remembers an American MTV show called 120 Minutes, you can attest to the fact that in that two hours you might have seen three videos you liked.

And the reviews are often written by hipsters that hate everything that doesn't sound like Lou Reed's Metal Machine Music.

LEt me know if you find anything worth listening to. I watched about a dozen videos half way through and just had to go to the next one.

I know I have eclectic taste but I don't think I am that picky. There was a lot of treelogger grunger rock. Bleh.

Watching the videos - The Doves are really a terrible band. They are almost good - but their singer just sounds saw - bored.
