New York

Anyone who can navigate that city has my unending admiration. There were a few times I just wanted to crawl up into the fetal position and call it a night. I was useless, Mr. Brian with his Blackberry and NY book was next to useless, withahip we just knew better than to ask him anything imprtant, but Jack mildly impressed me though I think that has more to do with his ego and blind self assurance than actual knowledge of the city.

It was pretty amazing being on the 23rd floor of the hotel and watching everything go on below. Take a ten minute subway ride and you're in a whole different NY. A two hour subway ride back and you finally make it back to your hotel. And the people were really nice too.

Hopefully if/when I make it back I will make a better accounting of myself.

I had a blast in New York. I could kick myself for waiting so long to visit.

It is overwhelming ... so different from L.A. But what a city! I was in sensory overload for four days. So much to see, so much to do. The people-watching is superb. Loved wandering around Central Park and the Lower East Side, love that you can take the subway at 2 a.m. and get home safely, even love that you can cross on a red and not get ticketed

New York was the obvious city choice for this historic show. There isn't
another place in the U.S. that can capture the excitement of an event.
It was the most fitting venue for something so special. The grandness
of RCMH seemed like the perfect backdrop for what was going to be
presented that night. The town, the hall, the structure of the show, and
the bunnymen family made it one of my favorite concerts ever.

Dude, they totally hid that downtown 1-train entrance in a Dunkin' Donuts. Only a local would know where to find that sh*t.

Yeah I really wasn't thinking of how that blackberry wasn't going to work in the subway and the map wasn't good for navigating the subway unless you were pretty familiar already with the NYC subway system itself.

It was pretty amazing to see bike riders cutting off cabs around corners and no one flinched except black francis and I.

i'm glad you all made it safely where you were going. it can be overwhelming, and even though i've been to NYC about 20 different times, i still have to always look at the big map on the subway to make sure i am going where i think i am going.

the only problem we ran into was tuesday night - the F-train was under construction going uptown, so we had to go downtown first, then switch over, then back up... and by that time we missed our LIRR train back to queens... so we took the subway to the end which on the map wasn't super far from where we needed to be, but we ended up in a shady neighborhood in the rain at 3am, but quickly found a cab and got home safe.

and if we didn't have that diversion, we never would have heard the crazy man on the train singing about being the chicken man, with a chicken head. hahahaha

Yeah, getting you to cross the street from the Pig 'N Whistle for a jukebox that worked pretty much exhausted me of all my energy. I think the P ,n W needs a framed pic of BF on the wall.

It was nice meeting Bill O'Reilly.

Looking forward to that trip was a nice, welcomed distraction to my every day
activities. Hope they start announcing tour dates/locations and album release
events soon, so to keep the momentum of the Ocean Rain show successes going.

For the amount of business I TRIED to give that place I should have an autographed framed head shot on the wall

I'm sorry I talked you out of your third meal there! I'm glad we decided to mix it up and go to a different Irish pub for that.

you should have gone to McSorley's. i wish i would have known so many of you were staying in the city the following day....you could have joined me and Tomo and Blinkie for burgers there. yummy yum. (and WAY cheaper than the Pig-n-Whistle  ) (tastier too!)

i think you need a subway map to go along with that map book, guys. the one in the back of the book is way too little. but all the stops are marked on the pages. (except a few of them) NYC isn't hard once you've been a few times.
pfft!

I'm nothing if not eclectic. We did do Asian and McDonalds the first night.

Is it just me or does Guinness taste better in NY?

tsing tao

I just wanted to say that again.

No more vodka would have cured it.
