Actually came out in the beginning of the month - but it looks like their pop genius is going the way of Big Star - a band someone down the road will cite as being fantastic and they will finally get their due outside of Halifax when it is too late. Not even pitchfork's praise could drum up interest. They play a free outdoor concert at the Tonwanda Canal Fest here - come down today!
If you like the idea of 70's AM radio pop diversity (does this have any meaning for those outside of N. America?) you will love this album Parallel Play. The title comes from how shrinks define the habit of young boys to play in groups but on individual interests. The four members of the band write separately figuring that the band name gives them a better chance to continue their careers than going solo and ruining them.
Not as good as the last 30 song gem (Never Hear The End of IT) critics are trying to make it sound like that since there are fewer songs they are just as good but more fleshed out. The last album does not need to be dissed to praise this one.
Some have Cheap Trick fee, others Belle & Sebastain, McCartney's Ram and so on.
