Coldplay's new album

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

Coldplay's new album

Postby guitarplayer on here too » Wed Jun 11, 2008 2:24 pm

Mac's favourite current band has a new album "Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends" out tomorrow. Obviously more Bunnymen inspired songs once again with the Porcupinish Indian strings on a number of tracks (but nothing like them at all). Despite Brian Eno's touches, a pretty bland album that follows on from the dull sound of X&Y and is only lifted by the pretty good instrumental guitar piece that follows the chorus and verses of "Yes". Still, it'll probably end up number one in the UK and US album charts. I just hope this Chris Martin-penned song on "The Fountain" is a bit more exciting.

I thought he was rejoining Roxy or was that just a rumour?

Also, I mentioned this in another post............L.A. radio station is presently holding a contest. Prize is having Coldplay play at your house. Are they doing this all over the world and would any of you forum members want Coldplay playing at your house?

He produces it every day, just like the rest of us.

Personal opinion, but it doesn't rank as an Eno great. It has its moments -- some great percussion arrangements, a few of notable songs like Life in Technicolor, the U2ish Lovers in Japan/Reign of Love, Yes (bit that follows after the singing bits) -- and it is certainly much much better produced than X&Y and not as disjointed with the running order of songs, but it's nothing stunning and very much business as usual.

Here is the link via My Space for the album in full. I have no idea if you have to a member to listen to it.

Jonathan Cohen, N.Y.
Contrary to media reports, Brian Eno is not rejoining Roxy Music for the group's first new studio album since 1982's classic "Avalon."

According to online Eno outpost EnoWeb, the reports are "untrue and just in-good-faith wishful thinking from the journalists -- Brian has no involvement with the band's current recording or tour plans. All that happened was that Brian popped in to visit the members of the group when they were in the studio."

You can hear it hear. I can't- cuz I use a Mac and the flip4 ain't working.

Violet Hill is wonderful. I think people feel guilty for liking warm, sing along music because we see in hindsight how stupid we were for taking The Alarm seriously.
