What was I thinking when I paid to see that band???

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

What was I thinking when I paid to see that band???

Does anyone care to admit to actually paying to see a band that you now think...what was I thinking?

I saw Billy Squier back in the early 80's...twice. I believe I even bought a shirt... but just once. I probably wore the one I bought from the first show to the second show like a dork. I think it was one of those jersey type ones that are white with the black sleeves.

Can anyone beat that?

Hmmmm.... paid to see Howard Jones. I thought is was awesome, too.

Paid to see Loverboy/Reo Speedwagon at the New York State Fair in the '90s, but I was bored.

Paid to see EMF. That sucked.

I've seen Howard. It was a great show. I always thought he was underrated as a musician.

In his honor I will listen to "Dream Into Action" this morning.

Mazzy Star

It was the dullest fucking show I've ever been to.
The stage is dark - nearly pitch - the band comes out, starts playing.

Hope Sandoval comes out. Stands in front of the mic. Sings.

And, that's pretty much it. No interaction with the audience. No lighting effects. She comes out. The band plays the songs. She sings the songs.

May as well have put on the CD in my darkened living room.

Not necessarily shameful. Boy George was a great vocalist back in the day, although nobody seems to want to admit it.

Better white-boy soul than Rick Astley or Mick Hucknall, I think

List of bands I've paid to see that I thought exactly the same thing as you, Brian but, I still got to get out of the house, have a drink & be with friends so, I guess it was 'there'.

The Tossers
The Misfits
Dropkick Murphys
Alice in Chains
Babyshambles
The Breeders
Dave Matthews Band
Foo Fighters
Kings of Leon
MXPX
Cypress Hill

etc. I can't remember them all.

I guess I was thinking more along the lines of bands you are now embarrassed to admit to paying to see as opposed to bad shows.

If that's the case then I have no shows that fall into that category. first show was KMFDM and it's been pretty good ever since.

The worst show was Depeche Mode at the forum. I was so far back the only way I knew it was the band members was Andy's off beat clapping. The song versions were straight from the studio tracks and Gahan was doing the same twirl with the mic stand he always have.
