There were only seven of them onstage, joined by two guys from the opening act for the encore. Brendan Canning looks like a skinny Farley Mowat and does a mean Peter Gabriel impression. The best band out of Toronto since Rush.

Facial hair report: Kevin Drew, Brendan Canning, the drummer, the trombonist and one of the guitarists all had beards; the other guitarist had an Edwardian bobby moustache and wore a flat cap. The two guys from the opening act were clean-shaven.

Cracking show nine years later. They played in the same venue as the Bunnymen did on their last Paris gig. Kevin Drew apologized for not speaking French because he was "a lazy Canadian".

Johnny Marr joined them onstage in Manchester last week.

I used to have one of their albums on my iPod, I'm not sure why because I never listened to it and now it's gone to the great recycle bin in the sky.
