Coldplay's new single

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

That's the problem with some bands around today. It starts out with good intentions. They release their first album "Parachutes" looking like a load of wanky students. Not too offensive. I mean they used their student loans constructively to buy guitars and make music rather than wasting it down the uni bar getting pissed every night. "Rush of Blood" comes out, they do Glastonbury and they look like seasoned musicians. Then Martin goes on one with that Free Trade thing and "X&Y" comes out and they start behaving like a bunch of wanky flag-waving tossers. Reminds me of the Editors...

I think this is why the song sounds familiar to me:

Aye and they all have beards, which Mac obviously took on board.

Oasis tracks covered by Coldplay are shite, lips like sugar cover was shite, they are shite. Oasis are shite, Ian Brown copyists. Ian Brown aint all that.

All frigging wannabees.

Mind you I was working in a marketing company when Parachutes was released and it was on a loop.

Mush for the masses!

Damn right they are. But yeah they lost the plot pretty quickly soon after.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

That would be Def Leppard.

I agree. I liked the 1st 2. But I thought it was a bad idea (and that they probably wouldn't last long) for a group (Oasis) to constantly be praising another group (Beatles) and putting such obvious references into all their songs. It's the 1st time I'd seen that done so outright and noticeably. I know the Bunnymen refer to VU and other groups do the same thing but this was like a giant "man crush", as they say.
Even Coldplay's "man crush" on the Bunnymen isn't THAT obvious.
