Marc Almond

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

Just bought tickets to see him in Liverpool in October. Not sure why really, I've not taken much notice of his solo career but I was quite fond of Soft Cell back in the day. That's what being bored at work on a Friday does for you!

Mrs Dr Cheese could be in for an interesting evening.

A few years ago went to the cornbury festival (no not the now infamous bunny's in the tent with cameron watching invasion of the bees year), and sunday headliner was Jools Holland and his vast array of people with nothing better to do and he was one of the guest vocalists. And he was quite good, within that narrow range of his. Jools was irritating in his smugness and Ruby Turner was one of those people who seems to own the stage. MArc was OK though. WOnder what happened to the other bloke in soft cell?

I've seen Jools Holland a couple of times as Mrs Dr Cheese likes his boogie woogie ooglie googlie style of music, he's always been a smug little prick but Ruby Turner was awesome both times, she can't half belt out a tune.

Not sure what to expect from Marc A, he's never had the strongest voice and this particular tour is with a full orchestra not a band so it could either be quite good or fucking awful. I'm looking forward to it nevertheless, it'll make a change from the usual stuff I go to see although saying that next up is Elkie Brooks in Manchester.

Well I'm here to report he was pretty good, surprisingly down to earth with some good banter with the crowd and in good voice, his orchestral backing band and singers were awesome and apart from a couple of slow paced, back to back dirges and an ill-advised acapella song in the second part of his set (which actually sent Mrs Dr Cheese to sleep! ) a good time was had by all.

I'd go and see him again and quite frankly there's no higher recommendation than that!

If it was in a decent venue I might have been tempted but not a barn like the O2.
