Smiths (again)

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

Smiths (again)

So, following on from the stone roses, does all this denial mean that the smiths are going to be the next on the lets get together and do it again bandwagon.

elsewhere too.

Cant see it myself and wouldn't like to get killed in the crush for tickets if it did. Wouldn't be the same without the drummer, haha, as we know around here too well.

Immediately thought of the rumour that would be great, but then no. It'd be a biggest chicken in the basket that anyone has ever cast their eyes on. There's enough of this reunion malarkey. I feel sorry for the new bands who have to play in the shadows of the nostagia-fest all the time and also the kids, who have to listen to our stuff pushed on them by ageing radio presenters and so forth, even if it is (or was) generally better. Besides, I thought parents were supposed to be embarrassing to their kids, not cooler and into better music.

My 16yr old and I share a very similar taste in music, I quite often catch her filching songs off my ipod.

At least she doesn't post on Facebook or whatever these teenagers do now complaining about the latest Bunnymen album, so you are safe there.

Johnny Marr quashes talk of Smiths reunion saying: 'I got things to do like mess up promising albums with my shitty ideas.'

heres a fairly extensive interview with tony fletcher banging on about the smiths

http://www.salon.com/2012/12/08/the_smi ... e_beatles/

- bit too much fanboying for my liking, but obviously he's got a book to sell. Theres also a thing on radio 2 coming up. I heard a trailer and jonny walker saying if [insert some blather here] there was only one band to listen to in the 1980s'. And I'm thinking, no there wasn't. They weren't even on my radar in the 80s. Not strictly true, my girlfriend's brother was into them and he had this massive quiff and a very fit girlfriend. I only started listening to them about ten or so years ago, and I'm not sure if its a phase thats passed. So cant be doing with this 'they're the most influential...., so briliant' cobblers all the time. But i suppose its a good story. And apaprently the cash from the cout case still hasn't been sorted. Rourke has no cash from moz and marr still wont talk to joyce (but then, if they'd have paid them the going rate when they had the chance, or even a contract joyce migth not have done it. file under 'what do I know'.

Overrated whiny tripe mostly although conversely I do like a lot of their singles.

Even if a reunion did get organized. Morrisey is so unpredictable I'd be surprised if a single show occurred.
