Best Uk City For Music

Postby King Of Kings » Fri Jan 25, 2008 8:47 am

The most Consistent UK city for producing really great bands is.

for me its either London or Manchester

Both created not only good music but a culture that was absorbed into the fabric of every day life and changed the way we live

Manchester gave us - Post Punk / Madchester and Britpop

London gave us- Punk / Mods / Glam / New Romantics

Birmingham gave us Metal

Liverpool Merybeat and the pop revolution

There must be hundreds and hundreds of bands from London so it's hard to compare with the other cities. I don't think it should be included. If I disqualify London because of it's size, then I would have to go with Manchester. The Bee Gees are from there, come on!

Uh, hello? There's a little band called DEF LEPPARD from a little place called Sheffield.

Does the winner get a plaque or a certificate suitable for framing or anything?

I hope they don't order that fried Monte Cristo sandwich. I've heard that Britain is watching their cholesterol

A delicious combination of ham and turkey, plus Swiss and American cheeses on wheat bread. Lightly battered and fried until golden. Dusted with powdered sugar and served with red raspberry preserves for dipping

I'm sorry but, even though this is a Bunnymen forum & we obviously know where they're from, I'd have to say Manchester b/c of the music dervived & the spirit elemented from there...

Mr. Hilton: Oh, we use only the finest baby frogs, dew-picked and flown from
Iraq, cleansed in the finest quality spring water, lightly killed,
and sealed in a succulent, Swiss, quintuple-smooth, treble-milk
chocolate envelope, and lovingly frosted with glucose.

Inspector: That's as may be, but it's still a frog!

Mr. Hilton: What else?

Inspector: Well, don't you even take the bones out?

Mr. Hilton: If we took the bones out, it wouldn't be crunchy, would it?

Yet, for me personally speaking, I want to move to Liverpool b/c I love it's clever, wit & soul. My one Aunt retired to an area in Italy so, that's what I'm looking to do too (retire to Liverpool) & I have a fiscal plan developed (so far) for this endeavor already (b/c it's my one main dream) likewise, she gave me good advice on resources on how to move/retire to another country. That is something good enough too!

You should really do some more research before deciding to move to Liverpool - read the Liverpool Echo newspaper on line - it will give some insight into the type of place it is. Don't get me wrong - I love Liverpool and was born down there but moved away when I was seven. I visit family down there quite a lot and often spend the weekend there. And it is a great place to visit but it has a dark side (as do all cities). My cousin was shot dead in a random shooting in a Liverpool pub several years ago (wrong place, wrong time), one of my young cousins has had a gun pointed at her in school, my aunties next door neighbour got raided just last week for drugs and was found in possession of guns aswell. I wouldn't choose to move back down there. Oh yeah - another one of my cousins and his friend were just putting their bikes away one day last year and a gang came and took their bikes and knifed my cousin and his friend. Cousin ended up with his hands and chest all slashed - luckily he made a full recovery. Maybe its just my family having bad luck I don't know (we are big family by the way).
