goddamn Radiohead

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

goddamn Radiohead

I wonder if Radiohead will ever record anything resembling music again. The King of Limbs is a steaming pile of fingernails-on-a-chalkboard unlistenable crap.

The rot set in even earlier than that. I can't see what all the fuss is about with Kid A. The Sarge was doing that type of thing in the early 80's and Talk Talk produced the masterful Spirit of Eden which is both stripped down and beautifully melodic.

I didnt mind Amnesiac, at least it had some attempt at songs. But everything else is just self indulgent wank lapped up by their idiot fans ("how can you possibly understand? You havd to be an artist yourself to appreciate Radioheads sonic textures").

The Bends was one of the musical highlights of the 90's. The rest?

Wank.
Mr. Brian, I find that offensive.

Scouser's inability to se others' point of view is rather grating.

It can't be good that I'm starting to agree with Scouser on most things.

Saw Radiohead on The Bends tour-absolutely fucking brilliant.Didnt expect anything like that after the Pablo.Stunning album-still one of my faves.
Ok computer comes out-very good but really coudnt see how it was better than the Bends.
Kid A-derivative bleeps that Eno did in the 70's.Some good songs.

I then expected them to return to writing songs..........jesus how wrong. At least Amnesiac has Pyramid Song on it.I honestly cant listen to an album of there's now except The Bends.Sad but true. That new video is just too creepy.

btw my mate highly recommends Phil Selways solo album with the comment "he's obviously got fucking tired of not playing proper songs with Radiohead"

I quite like the new Radiohead album, haven't been playing it much since getting it mind you.

Got The Boxer Rebellion's recently released album yesterday, which seems to be permanently on play at the moment.

I liked the new cd. And I hate Radiohead. Go figure. Well, the first song is terrible.
Morning Mr. MAgpie, Lotus Flower, and Codex are good. Ok, so I don't like the cd. I like three songs off it. Well, the three songs that don't sound like bad imitation of The Legendary Pink Dots.

Can't say that I agree with you lot,

I actually think that the last 2 albums are the best so far,
and as much as I respect them for making Kid A, Amnesiac
was a bad headache, push/pulk revolving doors is awful,
but not nearly as bad as Pablo Honey, only Blow Out is any good,
ironic really when you think about it.

I honestly don't know what the big deal is with Radiohead. I haven't listened to the new albums, but even their earlier acclaimed albums aren't that great, IMO. They seem to get credit for stuff that other artists have been doing for some time. They aren't some ground breaking group. And Thom Yorke's whole "squinty eye, tortured artist" thing seems pretty phony to me.

Met a soundman once who had done a Radiohead tour.Think his face said it all.Yorke spent most of his time watching arty farty black & white films.Led Zep on tour they aint.........our old drummer played with Drugstore a bit when they did that 'Kill the president' song with him. They rang him up to see if he would do TOTP with them and he was mowing his lawn at the time.Presumably in some existential fucking pattern.

Now that's one hell of an endorsement. So you like the cover and the case fits nicely on the shelf with all your other cds. Cracking

I think he's trying to ingratiate himself with someone though I'm undecided as to whom that certain someone may be.

Pity it doesn't come in a case or with a cover given there is no CD release until the end of March. Is it possible to put a MP3 on the shelf? I could disconnect my computer and put that on the shelf, but then I wouldn't be able to use the interweb anymore to chat to Russian and Chinese girls on internet-sex forums complete with webcams, plastic sex toys and stuff. And that wouldn't be much use.

Am I? I'd love to ingratiate with someone, sounds kind of like something I should ask the girls to do on their webcams next time I'm online. Wasn't trying to flatter anyone - don't know where you got that idea from. Thought it was good but not that great to get lots of listenings to. Whereas The Boxer Rebellion album "The Cold Still" is fan-dabby-dozy. Simple enough.

At least all of you have formed some kind of rudimentary opinion about the new album. It's been on my iPod for weeks, and I still haven't been excited enough to even listen to the damn thing. My apathy is overwhelming.
