not too sure about that, dont mind a bit of the primals, and when I saw them at reading several years ago they were alot better than oasis who headlined, but this albums a bit hit and miss if you ask me. Mildly amusing I suppose in the light of mani slagging hooky for exploiting his back catalogue and that he didn't have to do that - not that its his back catalogue is it? Thought he didn't join until after this? Anyway

Sample Minds - there appears to be others touted by the same company - Depeche Made and U2 the Tribute, made up of German and British musicians. What a load of brown stuff. "Live and ze Kicking" doesn't really work does it? I sympathise Dave, I think if I went it would be for Keith Harris and Orville. I'd really dig that second encore of Orville's Song. Altogether now, "I wish I could Fly, fly like a bird in the sky. I can't, you can".

Tribute bands... The only one that I have heard of and thought about going to see (other than EATB now) is The Smiths Indeed. But then decided to pass as I'm still having nightmares from seeing the last Morrissey tour and his shirt removing shenanigans.

Is there an album that would be great to hear in its entirety? If Ian could actually sing, a Stone Roses reunion and playing that one, I guess. But any album that has reached that sort of status is probably going to have a bunch of old farts for fans and even older farts up on stage. So that leaves us with Dark Side of The Moon as even super old farts won't be the focus if films are shown. Or maybe another band could tour doing an album like Flaming Lips did with Dark Side.
Coldplay doing EATB's Gray (Grey) album? Oh, that is back to the old fart problem.

I wouldn't mind hearing the Bunnymen doing The Velvet Underground and Nico. If they could get Korinna Knoll of Neulander to do Nico's parts it could be incredible.

They've already done a fair bit of it over the years (Heroin, Waiting for the Man, Run Run Run). Maybe Dave could give us a more accurate count? Unless he's already off to Butlins to watch a man stick his hand up something hairy (I mean Orville of course).

seen a few tribute bands for my sins - including the smiths indeed and they were OK but wouldn't, you know, cross a really busy road to see them. My local hosts a zeppelin tribute band that might be quite good but cant stand the original so not in that good a place to jusdge. plus they had a jam band on a while ago. As if to expose myself (oo er matron) as a complete sexist I clocked some middle aged bird in a union jack mini dress a la ginger spice and assumed she was 'with the band'. As it happens she was the band. Well a third of it anyway - the drummer no less. They were OK but suffered the same fate as the jam tribute band that actually had a third of the jam in it, in that the singer couldn't spit vile and venom but merely sing a few songs. Probably the best I've seen was 'the zimmermen', hey guess what they play? A bunch of local oxford musos playing bobs songs but not actually doing the imitation thing. Then another local pub started a series of tributes. Accidentally saw a robbie williams (with short interlude of kylie, yes really) tribute. Was quite good and as the locals might say, the place was heaving with fanny. The old chezza pulling machine in overdrive (ok, not really). Most interesting part, two minutes after the band finished someone twatted someone with a brass post and we all got sent home. Same place had a ewe toos band on. As it happens they were quite good. Though what did I learn? Well the drummer only knows one beat. Apart from that they only did about two songs pre 1990 so I was out of it really. Er sure theres a couple of others somewhere but.... well may the lord have mercy on my soul.............

The Jesus And Mary Chain's Jim Reid has revealed he ″wouldn't rule out″ playing their debut album 'Psychocandy' in full.
Next month sees the 25th anniversary of the release of the group's 1985 studio effort, although the frontman admitted that if the band did perform it live, it would be ″very hard″.
″As far as 'Psychocandy' is concerned, I wouldn't rule it out,″ Reid told The VPM. ″But the truth of the matter is, it's a very hard record to play live. Christ only knows how we managed to do it all those years ago, but we probably didn't! We were probably just so drunk that we thought we did.″
Considered by many as a hugely influential album, Reid explained that the band had a number of things they wanted to change about the LP.
″We wanted to make changes to 'Psychocandy' within a matter of days after completion,″ he said. ″It's like that with any record you make, it can never be perfect, you always want to keep changing things and tinkering with it. You just have to kind of draw the line somewhere because this doesn't really make it better – it just makes it different from what it would have been″.
He added: ″Looking back on 'Psychocandy' now it's a bit like looking at an old photograph of ourselves or something, it crystallizes exactly what we were about at that point in time, but of course we change, but the record doesn't″.
