The La's "lost" debut released next March

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

The La's "lost" debut released next March

Postby Scouser » Sat Dec 22, 2007 7:46 am

The original Mike Hedges mix of The La's debut gets a release in March 08. Backed with the Steve Lillywhite version (hated by the band - loved by me) and a load of rare b sides, outakes and rarities its gonna be quite a collection.

I have heard some of the Mike Hedges stuff (the original versions of There She Goes, Way Out and Unchained Melody) as well as a rare 12" I had that included the original Liberty Ship (slower and folkier) and Freedom Song (just guitar and voice) that were salvaged from those sessions - if they are anything to go by it will be a superlative account of Liverpool's greatest lost band.
Mr. Brian, I find that offensive.

I need to check them out.

Even though they were a bit on the hippy side I've always liked Cast.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

Cast are a pale imitation of The La's (though they had their moments - some of their singles are slices of pop perfection).

Lee Mavers of The La's is certified nutcase, but he's also a genius. I still live in hope that one day they will record the follow up.

The La's sound like an easy listening version of Sky Saxon and the Seeds to me . .. .you know - they aren't edgy.

Its my New Years Resolution not to be edgy. Apart from wherever Red is concerned, cos I hate her.

I appreciate a man (or woman) with the guts not to put a wink after a comment like that.

Er no I thought your comment was funny. But now I take it back.

Jack, just wanted you to know that I spent the day in the wilds of Riverhead today.
Actually not the "wilds" themselves, more like a rehab hospital for my elderly aunt. What an interesting town Riverhead is. I love the architecture but they are really building it up with all those crap outlets and superstores. The town itself is cool except for the traffic circles of death.

Awesome! Yes, it has really become built up with all that stuff. It's hardly recognizable.

Traffic circles! It's funny, I'm very comfortable with them because of growing up in Riverhead, but most people become befuddled when they encounter them.

What architecture did you see when you were there? I really don't recall there being any...

What hospital did you go to?
