OMD, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

OMD, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark

Postby DivaDiana77 » Tue Nov 24, 2009 4:05 am

I was having a listen to OMD yesterday and through it sounds like very early industrial in many respects, the virtuosic playing of the synths was truly amazing & still enjoyable 25-30 years after the fact. Telegraph was pretty damn funny--I've never gotten one and I think most people don't know what one is. Instead of "I've got a telegraph in my hand, words on paper..." should they sing "I've got an SMS? on a telephone that fits in the palm of my hand?"

I wonder how some of these would sound if they were played on piano or reorchestrated.

They did start to bore me when they started singing about love (If you leave and so in love) rather than love & technology.

A favorite video since I was about the same age as the kids when it came out.

Love and technology?

I love early OMD but have a soft spot for over produced crap like Sugar Tax and So In Love.

You have to give the Bunnymen credit for steering clear of the sax in the 80's
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

True. That's a really strange-looking techno one.
Every word is like an unnecessary stain on silence and nothingness.

I can never get the Ronco Grabmatic to work properly...
Mr. Brian, I find that offensive.

Scouser's inability to se others' point of view is rather grating.

It needs a stronger power source. I hook mine up to the car battery.

Def props for staying away from the sax. Though one of my friends was going ON AND ON about how sax solos make her melt.

I confess I have been singing "so in love" since watching the video. It was a huge hit for them in Amerrrrica as was "if you leave" (Dancing Horses was on the same soundtrack) I bought junk culture and Dazzle ships but stopped at that...

bunny vibrator...disturbing round these here parts.

I don't think that's a saxophone but I could be wrong.
