The Obligatory Contented of Hove Thread

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

Another excellent show by the Bad Seeds at the Casino de Paris last night. Two hours.

Nick was in good form and looked amazing for a 50 year old. Age has not withered him but the memory's not what it used to be -- cheat sheets for the lyrics. He introduced "Tupelo" as "a song about a fucking tempête". He said requests should be directed to Dr Cave: "I'm a doctor now, you know." Warren Ellis is Boudu saved from drowning. The crowd went apeshit for "Papa Won’t Leave You, Henry". Sadly no "From Her to Eternity" or "Mercy Seat".

For those interested in sartorial matters, Nick was wearing a black jacket and shirt, and charcoal grey trousers with a turquoise pinstripe. Changed into a Grinderman T-shirt for the encore.

Setlist
Night of the Lotus Eaters
Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!!
Tupelo
Today's Lesson
Midnight Man
Nobody's Baby Now
Red Right Hand
Jesus of the Moon
The Ship Song
We Call Upon the Author
Lie Down Here (& Be My Girl)
Deanna
Get Ready for Love
Papa Won’t Leave You, Henry
More News from Nowhere

The Lyre of Orpheus
Far From Me
Hard on for Love
Your Funeral, My Trial

Thanks. I think you covered everything there except the 'tache. What is its current state? Image

You didn't happen to notice if he pulled up in a Manta, did you?

Thanks for the review. Roll on Saturday!!

Yes. Landed yesterday. Pity he's not playing Mercy Seat. Didn't look at the setlist apart from that because I want to be surprised.

Nope.
The setlist on Saturday was the same except that Shane McGowan came on stage just before Stagger Lee. He tried to perform a song which nobody could identify. It was an utter train wreck.
Otherwise it was a fantastic night. Nick was on top form giving it loads of high drama - brilliant. The rain stayed away. The two hour set felt like about thirty minutes :frown:

Glad you had a great time. It's a shame about Shane -- but hardly surprising.

Oh, and it was, apparently, Lucy that Shane McGowan managed to mangle.
