The Obligatory Beatles Remasters 2009 Thread

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

The Obligatory Beatles Remasters 2009 Thread

Can the remastered Beatles albums possibly as good as the people who have heard them are saying? The Uncut reviewer sounded like he was about to explode (review not online yet, but I assure you it was bordering on orgasmic).

Can they really be THAT different? I know they took 4 years to do but...come on...surely Rubber Soul is still Rubber Soul.

Mr. Brian, I find that offensive.

The Beatles did a fair job of mastering their albums in the first place. I can't see what they could do that would make a big difference.

From what I have read, a number of reviewers said they had the same thought until they put the cd in.

I will pick one up and see. Probably Sgt Peppers - if there is going to be a difference that would be one of the ones- then again - I'd like to hear the bass runs McCartney was said to have done and now stand out on the early stuff that has always been inaudible.

The funny part is - a lot of this "new sound" will be lost when people drop the cd into their computer media player and the .wav files are converted to mp3 or 4s.

I had the same thought Withahip (only maybe getting Revolver first) to see what all the fuss is about. All the reviews I have read so far have been by die hard Beatle obsessives who are bound to be in raptures.

I was in HMV today and they were putting huge Beatles display stands up ready for Wednesday, it was like it was 1963 again. I havent seen that much excitement in HMV since the Bunnymen remasters.

Rubber arsehole I say.I've had it with them.Tenth best band from Liverpool.Overrated.McCartney is a schmultzy wanker,Ringo a knob jockey and Lennon turned into a cock before being put out of his balladry piano misery with his parasitic sidekick.Only Harrison kept his dignity but smoked his lungs to lettuce leaves on blocks of black. All Things Must Pass.Like this continual 'appraisal' of how great their music was.Lets move on eh record companies?Bollocks to The Beatles.

That was a wholly expected response. You have become a carictature of yourself.

And youve become dyslexic.Anyway I thought you hated The Beatles?

On a serious note...I own most of The Beatles stuff. As I get older I prefer the earlier output-just prefer that punkier vibe. But we've already had the mono/stereo remasters etc.. etc...Christ the stereo output is just the bass/drums panned to one side and the guitars /vocals on the other. Now they're on a bleeding computer game. Its All Too Much to repeat a class Harrison song. They had f*king Cilla on the BBC One Show the other night discussing it all again and again .Well if you can remember the sixties you werent there" yawn,yawn,yawn..........talk about flogging it to death. Its ridiculous.

Me hating The Beatles (or not) is part of my Bipolar Disorder - I swing between loving them and really loving them and sometimes abit angry about them as American tourists elbow me out of the way to get their picture taken outside The Cavern which just happens to be near one of my favourite pubs (The Grapes).

I'm more than tempted by The Beatles Rock Band though!

I have mine pre-ordered! Just the software though. I already have some instruments and the pricetag for the whole kit is a bit pricey.

I am definitely caught up in the Beatles juggernaught. I recently read Geoff Emerick's book on his experience as an engineer working with the Beatles and that prompted me to listen to the Beatles catalog from beginning to end. It is a very good time to be a Beatles fan.

I was wondering how long it would be before this would turn into a bitter attack on how overrated the Beatles are. Thanks for being so consistent.
