Jarvis Cocker is a God

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

Cool, although Peter and the Wolf is a tad boring. Saw it at the RAH as a kid with the less glamorous Richard Stilgoe narrating.

To be classed as less glamorous than Jarvis Cocker is something of an achievement.
Purveyor of the 'semi-predictable one-liner (which) embodies the essence of the type of comedic crap we grew to love here. VB is a crazy fool'

Yes, but Jarvis Cocker is god. Richard Stilgoe is not even worthy to be one of his angels.

Yorkshire has also been called God's own county. Sheffield I guess is God's own city, but according to his holiness Jarvis, praise be, it is also the sex city. Never undertaken the pilgrimage to the holy city though to confirm that claim.

Jarvis Cocker visits his former school in Sheffield
http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2011/oc ... -interview

"I'd clean forgotten Cocker was once the voice of youth drug culture – and I suspect the kids he'd just addressed would be astonished – for these days he's more like the heir to Alan Bennett."

Has he heard of the next one, Iris by Goo Goo Dolls? He gives a blank look, has a read, and shakes his head in despair. "I wouldn't be surprised if that had been written by a lyrics generator on the internet or something like that. 'You bleed just to know you're alive'? I mean, really."

BTW I am prepared to call Jarvis Cocker the greatest lyricist of all time.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

He's doing similar stuff round the bookshops next week signing Mother, Brother, Lover. Think it's only London and Sheffield tho.
