Depressive, sad songs...

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

Depressive, sad songs...

What songs do you listen to when you're saddened, sickened, in a funk-depressive?

I've been finding these last 3 days, Joy Division, The Machine, Pink Floyd and certain Cure songs have been doing the trick. The entire Wall & Til We Meet Again soundtracks are currently happening now.

I tend to listen to the entire 2Tone Ska catalogue when I'm in a funk.... except for "the boiler"
Helps me out of the funk. the lyrics maybe depressing but the music is up

I never get depressed but I've just been put on 2 meds that CAUSE depression  so, we'll see.
I'll post my list when the meds start working if I don't kill myself first.

I hope you're not serious. You're a good person and don't deserve that negativity. Thanks too, for posting about what happened to me in the other thread. I appreciate your friendship.

Frank Black - Sad Old World

This is some really sad sh*t.

I know something about true love
I know something
It’s the kind of thing that you screw up
Over some dumb thing

I don’t know anyone who doesn’t try to give it a whirl
You better hang on
'cause its a sad old world
'cause its a sad old world

Don’t try to tell me it's gonna' be alright
I know something about sickness
I know something about that now
There’s nothing you can do except witness
No there’s nothing you can do
And when the petals on the flower start to curl
Well you better hang on, now,
You better hang on
'cause it's a sad old world
'cause it's a sad old world

This one's sad cause three of the four band members died in a car crash shortly after this song was written. I always wonder if the lyricist was able to convey how he felt to this person before he died. Plus it reminds me of someone.

The Exploding Hearts - So Bored

I sit alone and desperate tonight
I hold my heart but that's alright

I'm thinking of the words to say
Words that are gonna make you stay
Words I hid from you
Words I never said to you
Everyone knows that I still love
Somehow it shows I can't get over you

Tell me what I gotta do
I'll make it up to you
But if you walk out that door
You'll never hurt no
It was just a waste of time
Yeah you're just a waste of time
It was just a waste of time
But I don't mind

I tell you of my misery
Tell you I was blind but now I see
Tell you that I was so wrong
Tell you that it's been too long

Whatever happened to
I love you too

But if you walk out that door
You'll never hurt no
It was just a waste of time
Yeah you're just a waste of time
It was just a waste of time
But I don't mind

You say "oh now you see"
And I ask if you still love me
You say that you don't know
Why don't you know?

It was just a waste of time
Yeah you're just a waste of time
But I don't mind

Yeah they were just kids who happened to make one off the all time great punk records, had major labels fighting over them, just played San Francisco for the first time and died on the drive home.

And through it all they retained a sense of excitement and best of all never lost their sense of humor.

Maximum Rock N Roll: How many times have you guys gotten laid or offered drugs strictly because you're in the Exploding Hearts?

Matt: Enough times to justify wearing pink pants.

MRR: Adam, what's the deal with the mullet? Do the ladies love the mullet?

Adam: I have two points. One: The word "mullet" was invented in the 90s (just line "Nsync" and "xtreme sports, brah") so therefore I completely absolve myself from having to answer this stupid question, and I'm offended you asked. Fuck you. Two: It's cold in Oregon! It helps keep my neck warm!

In 1987 my father was killed by a drunk driver...

At the time the song "Head Hang Low" By Julian Cope seemed perfect

All is lost
In bright confusion
Once that loss
Was far away
Frightened man
In deep division
Frightened man
With head hang low

You may sit alone like me
But, please, don’t be alone like me
My world’s very beautiful today

Patron saint
Of lost illusion
Come and paint
My world in grey
I am lost
With no companions
All are bowed
With head hang low

You may sit alone like me
But, please, don’t be alone like me
My world’s very beautiful today

evergreen and HUH[/i]
A kite is a contract of glory
that must be made with the sun,
so you make friends with the field
the river and the wind,
then you pray the whole cold night before,
under the travelling cordless moon,
to make you worthy and lyric and pure.
