Depressive, sad songs...

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

I do wear black a lot actually I just don't see the point of wallowing in misery and depression.

I guess I'll hold off on my "The world will never understand my darkness" thread.

I think maybe cause I've gotten sappy since my kids were born I really dig the lyrics from the Fiery Furnaces - "Sing for Me". It reminds me of all the sailors lost at sea and the families they left behind but for some reason this song seems infused with hope and the music is really quite cheery. Kinda like an alternative lullaby.

Sing for me, my daughter, sing for me.
When I’m away you’ll be the siren that will finally lead me home.
The girl around her father throws her arms to make him stay:
"My daddy dear it hails, it blows; you cannot go today!"
Sing for me, my daughter, sing for me.
When I’m away you’ll be the siren that will finally lead me home.
The April mud was on his boots, a’clinging through the fields.
And desperate it sends up its shoots-- but at water’s edge it yields.
Sing for me, my daughter, sing for me.
When I’m away you’ll be the siren that will finally lead me home.
The waves were pounding ‘gainst the dock; the pillars creak and growl.
The shoreman loading up the stock; the gulls were crying foul.
Sing for me, my daughter, sing for me.
When I’m away you’ll be the siren that will finally lead me home.
The father called up to the ship, "You need an extra hand?"
"Ah yes, for just a little trip: one month be back at land."

The rain had stirred the sea too well; the salt poured on the deck.
At last the captain rang the bell: the ship was left to wreck.
Sing for me, my daughter, sing for me.
When I’m away you’ll be the siren that will finally lead me home.
It’s calm but now the fog is thick: so which way should they head?
The rest knew not and they must be quick-- so father softly said:
Sing for me, my daughter, sing for me.
When I’m away you’ll be the siren that will finally lead me home.

That's the first of the food porn pics that actually looks edible, most of the others looked like cardboard or plastic. Thanks for not ruining supper with pictures of dead things.
