Arcade Fire

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

About ten years ago. I hardly went on the Interweb as I was using that all the time at work, certainly didn't want to spend all my leisure time on the web, even if was looking at dodgy porn sites. The computer that I owned back then, bless its little cotton floppy disk socks, I bought in 1999 or 1998 and dial-up was all that was available for it. It was probably pretty infested with viruses and shit like that, and certainly knackered by the time it went to computer heaven. I had absolutely no need for broadband for quite a while.

Ten years ago sounds about right.

Dial up was the worst.

Hey I met my wife on dial up!

A Front 242 chat room I created on AOL. I still don't know why she thought knowing one song entitled her to join in.

Sadly Billy she got even slower the day after we moved in together. Sneaky women.

Well, bf, your "how we met" story is better than mine. I met Mr. noname when I was 12 years old, pre-puberty. He doesn't remember *that* time, because I looked like a little kid. It was a bit different (as I was also different!) a year later, when I was hanging out in a bikini washing cars with my friend, who conveniently lived next door to him. To him, that was the first time we met.

So when you first met on a face-to-face date then BF, did you both sit at tables discussing the issues of the day by computer as that was the only way you'd gotten used to "talking" by? That's how I imagine relationships forming via interweb conversations.

Is it just me or does anyone else feel like a pedophile imagining 13 year old girlwithnoname in a bikini washing cars?

I got nervous and was two hours late to our first date. We met in a public parking lot cause I got lost. I forget what we did after that.

Second date she made me watch Grease. The shit we guys go through for some action.

She got revenge for the two hour wait then in probably the most agonising way imaginable. I think I would have made my excuses and left the minute that film went into the DVD player.

As for girlwithnoname as a 13 year old in a bikini. The thought police are knocking at your door right now with a crowd holding burning torches chanting "pedo! pedo!". No it's not just you. I really wish she hadn't described her first meeting with her hubbie if they were that young. Besides, that childhood sweetheart malarkey is bloody irritating.

Yeah what is all this young love, soul mate shit about?

I told the crowd at the door she didn't look thirteen at the time and they were cool with that.

Well, that was kind of my point...that bf's mate-meeting was better than mine. And just for the record, we did not actually get together for several years after we met, despite my huge crush--in fact, we were both out of high school.

Well, that's alright - so you were 15. Childhood sweetheart, young love, soulmate alert. Now pass me a bucket as I think I'm going to be sick.
