The Obligatory Depeche Mode thread

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

That is unfair. Dave would hyphenate middle-aged.

We're all creatures of habit and people expect too much.Sonic Youth were on Jools Holland too- a 'cool' persons band.Same old shit I'm afraid.Thats life.

What is this third position? I believe you are making that up.

Who still shags their wife?
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

The offending Jools Holland performance...

<object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/StUGiwyqhKQ&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/StUGiwyqhKQ&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>

The sound is all over the place at the start but you cant blame DM for that, the BBc do the sound. Sorts itself out after a while...
Mr. Brian, I find that offensive.

Poor Fletch. They give him like 2 knobs to twiddle and a microphone he never uses.

At least when Alan was in the band he had three knobs to twiddle.

What happened to position 4?

Dave, it would be great if the Bunnymen were repeating the first four albums. But they aren't even as original as themselves. And as I state over and over, Glide proves (imho) that the duo has lots of potential for new creative ideas.

We are not talking creative spark. We are talking pure laziness in new output.

Even Sonic Youth (whom I have never liked) took a chance with the new one and turned down the distortion and made a straight ahead rock album.

We aren't bagging on Will and Mac for failing to repeat Ocean Rain.
A second Gray album would brings praise from all, at this point. Actually, rehashing the first four albums would even be great. The new songs are less memorable than a Rob Thomas song.

Big Mac playing VU covers too an inattentive at a pizza joint is not equal to the last two cds put out by Depepche Mode.

And - complaining people nitpick music here is the same as saying people get too excited over athletic ability on a sports forum.
