Weller - Sonic Kicks

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

The Jam were broken up before I ever heard of them. I loved all The Jam albums, even the soul stuff at the end, but could never get into Style Council for some reason.

I didn't follow Wellers solo career but I did like that "It's Written in the Stars" he did in 2002.

I caught them at the end. I was only eight when they had their first UK No1 single (Going Underground). Probably the first song I really liked. I do remember The Style Council very well as one of my friend's older sisters was a massive fan and had to endure listening to their tunes every time I went to their house. Even with my mediocre tastes in music back then, I could tell they were shit. Long Hot Summer, pah... song still makes my skin crawl. Can't actually think of a decent Style Council song at all.

The only one that doesn't make me want to run amok with a machete is "Walls Come Tumbling Down" and that could change at any minute.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

I didn't realise that The Style Council continued until 1989. Paul Weller has got a lot to answer for developing the chav look (they were called Kevin back then). I hope nobody dressed like that on here back in the day.

I'm quite fond of that one, it's the only song of theirs I can listen to without losing the will to live.

have to say i've got into it over the last coupl eof weeks. the, er experimental typoe bits are among the best bits really, its when he goes off into 'wild wood' territory it gets a bit dull. A mate reckons alot of it sounds like blur which is kmind of true.
