Wild Beasts return with a new album in May

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

My only (slight) criticism of the album is that they left the title track (Smother - b side of Albatross) off. Other than that - superb.
Mr. Brian, I find that offensive.

Scouser's inability to se others' point of view is rather grating.

It's definately a slow burner...needs half a dozen plays to really sink in. Some of the melodies are really subtle.

The writers at Pitchfork are pretty damn bad - and they seem to hate music - but often they are spot on.

You should appreciate this:
http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/15436-smother/

Be warned they tend to write Look at me, oh aren't I so clever craplike this:
Despite the many critical successes of that album, Wild Beasts have remained an act with no intention of blending in. Smother, their third full-length, is just as the above quote promises: completely uncompromising. And that's why it succeeds.

I feel such writing is reserved for us here at VT.

thanks for the link, see what you mean about the rather self conscious style. quietus interview really interesting. would rather read an interview than a review

they played all of Smother - fabulous ( only heard Albatross before ) + 3 or 4 oldies

they were so into it on friday & hayden said something about being overwhelmed by reception . he is either a truly modest man or a consummate professional

go see

I am going to see them in Manchester Cathedral, which has great acoustics.

am envious
btw for the vertically challenged: height and width of audience not such an issue as at EATB gigs

Yeah, Dave was a big supporter of Wild Beasts from day one.
