Leonard Cohen tour dates!

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

I tell ya some of us work for the wrong campanies

check this bank out in Ireland

http://www.rte.ie/news/2009/0222/anglo.html

This company gave an €83 million loan to its head man

Current feeling in Ireland is that this Bank is going to cause a no cofidence vote in the Irish Govt.

Wooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!
Got me some tickets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fan presale this morning for Philly - Limit of 2 tickets. we needed 3.
so my daughter was on phone with me and we both logged in and finally got the
ticket page after a bunch of times, and SHE timed out.....like 2 mins before me??? weird....so she started over....still managed to get tickets!!! but even better that she timed out coz her two seats ended up immediately behind my two!!! woooooooooooo!

couldn't afford the balcony so we bought the family circle seats....lowest price, and they were still $89.50. (plus $10 fees) ggrrrrr but it's okay, i just wanna hear!!!

i'm excited...... .................but it was SUCH a nightmare trying to get these tickets bought. at least the bunnymen gave us the link to the ticket agent BEFORE they went on sale....so we had to register on the seller website too, in the middle of our transaction. and they only give you 6 mins to do the entire thing. i was panicking!

i really really really really really HATE the way you gotta buy tickets for a show these days!

Well God bless Pearl Jam for trying.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

That's the main reason we decided to go to the Philly show, coz Ticketmaster was NOT involved in the ticket sales at all! Figured we'd have a better chance at getting some.

from your article:

a Ticketmaster spokesman suggested the Cohen seats on TicketsNow were speculative listings offered by individuals or brokers trying to sell tickets in the hope that they could purchase and flip them once they went on sale.

what a load of crap. i'm not believing that for one minute...

and can you believe this??? (below) all ya gotta do is join the forum for FREE! hahahaa

And some entrepreneurs are trying to make a quick buck on something they don't even own, with eBay sellers retailing passwords to the various presales for $12.99.

Ticketmaster CEO: Secondary ticketing should be illegal

The head of America's biggest tickets agency has told the US Senate that the resale market is a mess and should be banned

Sean Michaels guardian.co.uk, Thursday 26 February 2009

Secondary ticketing should be banned, the CEO of Ticketmaster, which itself owns resale company TicketsNow, said this week.
Irving Azoff was speaking before the US Senate judiciary's antitrust subcommittee, regarding the proposed merger of Ticketmaster and Live Nation, which is likely to have a huge impact on the gig-going public.
"I don't believe there should be a secondary [tickets] market at all," Azoff said. "I believe that scalping and resale should be illegal."
Last year Ticketmaster bought TicketsNow, one of the largest ticket resellers in America, for $265m (£186m). Azoff was not CEO at the time.
"I never would have bought [TicketsNow]," Azoff insisted.
"Are you open to selling it?" Democratic senator Charles Schumer asked. "Listen, we're a public company," Azoff replied. "If you would like to make an offer, senator, we would love to hear it."
Both Ticketmaster and TicketsNow recently came under fire when thousands of Bruce Springsteen fans were directed by Ticketmaster to buy tickets from the reseller, at inflated prices. While Ticketmaster collected just $7 in fees for every Springsteen ticket sold directly, they made $30 on every ticket sold via TicketsNow.
Ticketmaster apologised to Springsteen and his fans this week, blaming a computer glitch and promising to create a "wall" between the two websites.
Despite this announcement, the "glitch" has again reared its ugly head. CBC has reported that Canadian fans were forwarded to TicketsNow when attempting to buy Leonard Cohen tickets from Ticketmaster. Tickets with a face value of $99-$250 were allegedly being sold at TicketsNow for between $568 and $856. On Thursday, the LA Times reported that TicketsNow is proffering seats for the forthcoming No Doubt reunion tour, with tickets due to go on official sale via Livenation on 7 March.
Azoff himself concluded his interview on a contrite note. "The whole secondary area is a mess," he said.

I was driving home and an ad came on the radio for Leonard Cohen tickets except it was a presale for American Express card owners only. We sure have gotten away from the spirit of music.

WOW!! Saw Leonard Cohen last night in Philly!!!

It was S.U.P.E.R.B.!!!!!

Amazing venue! (perfect for Bunnymen!) At least a 2.5 hour show! may have been closer to 3 hours...and he still plays his guitar for 5 - 6 songs!! The band was amazing! Especially the guy from Barcelona on guitar, and the sax player!

I wrote down everything he played:

Dance Me To The End of Love
The Future
Ain't No Cure For Love
Bird on a Wire
Everybody Knows
In My Secret Life
Chelsea Hotel
Who By Fire
Waiting For the Miracle
Anthem

--Intermission

Tower of Song
Suzanne
Sisters of Mercy
Take This Waltz
Boogie Street
Hallelujah -- (standing ovation!)
I'm Your Man
1000 Kisses Deep (spoken)
Democracy

--Encore

So Long Marianne
First We Take Manhattan

--Encore

Famous Blue Raincoat
If It Be Your Will (he spoke the first part, then the sisters sang it while playing harp and guitar. probably the most gorgeous thing i ever heard!)
Closing Time

--Encore

I Tried To Leave You
Wither Thou Goest

Met up with Blinkie for a drink and food before the show. Fun seeing her again!

Then we headed off to the venue and since we had fan pre-sale tix we were escorted to a special room where some of the band members were doing a meet and greet and signing. That was a nice surprise! Beat having to deal with the crowds in the lobby! Leonard didn't take part in that...he arrived and left immediately before and after the show. Can't blame him at his age...but his performance was amazing!! He is very respectful of his musicians. He took his hat off for every solo that was played, or sang, by another person. He's a top performer!
