The Obligatory Depeche Mode thread

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

Not to be taken as gospel but according to Wikipedia Gahan wrote (with Christian Eigner & Andrew Phillpott)

"Hole To Feed", "Come Back" and "Miles Away / The Truth Is

There is a better quality stream of SOTU at the NME website - www.nme.com

Deffo more bassy (on my PC speakers at least)
Mr. Brian, I find that offensive.

Scouser's inability to se others' point of view is rather grating.

It is great by other bands' standards. Ok, by DM standards. "Perfect" really sounds like Duran Duran a la Seven and The Ragged Tiger.
Jezebel is Martin's obligatory wimpy ramble of a tune.
Wrong, Perfect, Hole To Feel and Fragile Tension stand out the most on only a couple lessons - so four is a good start. I haven't watched the DVD yet.

I am sure I will like it more as I listen - just like I am less impressed by Yeah Yeahs the more I listen.

First impressions, though. I thought yeah yeah yeahs was so good at first, now not so much. Thought Faith and Devotion was terrible and now it is the standard I measure every subsequent release by.

Thanks for the opinion now go back to the she-male and the Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs.

Gahan did some new things singing. He easily goes to a falsetto for a note or two without sounding like he is on Broadway.

Here is the movie you get with the cd. Were Spinal Tap from Essex?
(Like Gahan.)

Come Back sounds even better on the cd.

SOTU is deffo a grower, though its no Sounds Of Faith & Devotion. Its more of an Ultra in my opinion. I like Jezebel actually, its Peace that I think is the duff one...though alot of people seem to really like it and want it to be a single. So what do I know.

Definitely does not sound like SOF&D - it sounds like a much better follow up to Playing the Angel. And in time, ,ay prove to be one of their better album.

While Jezebel does sound a bit formulaic I like it a lot. Plus as long as it's a strong tune I don't mind if ML Gore throws one of those out per album.

Yup - I am changing my mind on that one, too.

Weird!

Whats with the voice Mart? I'm sure the Germans appreciate your comedy Nazi delivery!
