The Obligatory Depeche Mode thread

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

Jack wouldn't know. We kept him bound, blindfolded and gagged in NY.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

Is that code?

Thats all you can hear through his gimp mask.
Mr. Brian, I find that offensive.

rog was on the radio the other day singing DMs praises - partly for coming in to save their original idea of having ten nights (for the tenth anniversary) and also to say how good they were.

Well if Rog said it, it must be true

They are still very much outsiders here in the UK - no Brits lifetime achievement awards etc...still sneered at by the music press for using synths (and thus not being "authentic") yet selling shedloads of records and selling out tour after tour. If people ever ask me who my favourite band is and I say DM...90% of people snigger and accuse me of being gay / perverted / stuck in the 80's (despite DM's success all coming in the 90's and beyond).

I just take a deep breath and grit my teeth. Generally these people like Oasis or Keane or some other derivitive shit.

Its not easy being a DM fan.

My seven year old brought home a permission slip for his school's talent show yesterday. He wants to perform "Suffer Well". He told me he asked some of his friends to join his band (He wants to call it Goosebumps after the RL Stine series) and one is willing. I bought him a guitar and he bangs away on it trying to play the song but I don't know if I have the heart to tell him it's not even close. I love listening to him sing and hearing a seven year old imitate Gahan's baritone always brings a smile to my face. His other favorites are "A Question of Time", "Photographic" and "Comeback".

Once school ends I'm gonna spring for some guitar lessons.

 We were in that bar before the concert and had planned on going back in there again. Just before the concert finished, it was filled with little canapes, champagne glasses etc. If only we'd found a way to sneak in!!!!
So what's the verdict? Is Alan coming back?
