the 1975

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

Mrs 5times and I are going to watch these tonight in the Manc Academy. Not been there since the bunnymen in 2005.

I was there in December for Gogol Bordello, I think it's been done up since the last time I was there? (Also the Bunnymen in 2005 coincidentally).

Be prepared to pay ridiculous prices at the bar!

I'm driving, Doc, so we won't be buying anything at the bar.

I was well bevied for the bunnymen in 2005. That was the days before Mrs 5times and kids...seems like a million years ago.

I think I was the oldest one in there last night. A change from bunnymen gigs where I feel like a spring chicken.

The Manc academy is not as good as the Liverpool one. We went upstairs to go on the balcony (like we always do at the bunnymen xmas show- we like the tropical temperatures) and there was a fella on the door who asked if we had passes. WTF. Actually, I thought he said 'glasses', so I said 'no, we haven't got a drink' , and he looked at me like I was soft.

Also, they wouldn't let Mrs 5times take her umbrella inside because she didn't have a bag to put it in. She had to leave it in this huge pile of umbrellas outside. So, of course, after the show when we went to get it, it wasn't there. Do they think everybody is going to kick off and have an umbrella fight, or what?

The 1975 were pretty good, although not on a par with groups I've seen recently like the bunnymen, Depeche mode and black Sabbath. Although I'm sure all those 'kids' in there last night would disagree with me.

I remember 1975, I had the Action Man Annual, would have loved the Six Million Dollar Man'doll' but it was too pricey. Actually I was Steve Austin for a year or two.

How much would the six million dollar man be worth nowadays? More than Suarez?

I had the bionic man action man thing when I was a kid. He had bionic nodules in his arms.

He was great, Steve Austin. Watch him go here- he's like Voodoo Billy running home from Goodison after another derby defeat.

Just had a look on Ebay and you can get repros, the Steve Austin doll looks a bit gay but you can also get Bigfoot who is the spitting image of Demis Roussos. Might invest.

Just think how prices have risen though, you'd need closer to £60m for the diving uruguayan, his teeth alone must be worth £6m

I don't care if Suarez is a chipmunk, as long as he keeps knockin' 'em in the back of the net.

I always thought it was DENNIS Roussos. The things you learn on Villiers Terrace.

 How did we get from The 1975 to Denn...Demis Roussos?

Here's some Dennis Roussos for you, VB.

I'm expecting the new bunnymen album to sound a bit like this.

The Bigfoot doll flatters him.

Lee Majors is more charismatic in that clip than he was in the original.

My mate keeps on about this band .... youtube here i come

as for the year, all a long time ago now and a bit vague, but mainly remember it as the year before 1976, long hot summer and the grim reality of having to pass the o' levels. Do remember selling my scalextric to buy a guitar to replace the crappy woollies one i had though, though the band me and my mates spent hours/weeks/months planning would never really get much past the 'crucial three' phase.
