Interpol brixton

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

Interpol brixton

I went to the Tuesday gig with a ticket for Monday - what a div.

Anybody see this or them anywhere else?

Were they any cop?

No I didn't go, but judge for yourself - this is from last Wednesday at Brixton. Looks quite impressive with a corker of a last song in the encore. I'm thinking about seeing them next year... maybe.

I saw them once and they bored the shit out of me even though I think Not Even Jail is one of the greatest songs ever.

That's why I'm a maybe. I have been tempted because there are several songs that I wouldn't mind hearing live, such as Not Even Jail, but I can quite imagine the rest of the night would be boring hearing samey guitar songs over and over again. They should do a full entirety tour - play Antics. I'd be up for that.

The first time I saw Interpol, they sounded JUST like their album--it was a snoozer. The second time I saw them, the venue was horrible, but they were playing looser and freer and consequently sounded better.

I wouldn't go to see them again, however.

I saw them at Cornell before they got big and it was good. Saw them again a year later and it was good.

I saw them on this tour and those new tunes are so boring I left.

Well that decides it for me about whether to see Interpol live in the new year. Cross out maybe and put a definite no. Seems that Tonywojo had a lucky escape by getting the wrong night.

that light 'show' seems to be exactly the same as the one they used when i saw them at brixton about 5/6 years ago

they were good, but felt a bit short chaged as they only played 45 mins when they already had two albums out

Saw them 4 or 5 times.
Last time was in a small venue in Paris last september, kind of secret gig announced only a week before etc
Really one of the greatest Interpol show I've seen. Excellent.
They were really in it, and so was the crowd (not speaking during songs... )

If possible, you must see them in a small venue rather than in a big one or at a festival. With them, it makes all the difference...
To the logical limit

I doubt you'd get a small venue performance round these parts, although where I was considering going was certainly smaller than Brixton.

Problem I have with Interpol is Antics is a great album but their latest one, while okay after a lot of repeated listens, is really boring. The last thing I'd want to do is go to a gig where every song apart from a couple sound exactly the same, however much I enjoy guitar-driven tunes. I got quite bored when I went to see Editors a few years ago, so I get a feeling I'd get even more bored with this and have been hesitant to buy tickets secretly hoping it would sell out so there would be no excuse for umming and arring over whether to go. I think the views above have made that decision for me.

Yeah I pretty much refuse to see bands other than DM or Muse at arenas. And those two only cause that's all I'm gonna get. I'd much rather pay $7.00 to see Agent Ribbons give it their all at Alex's Bar or $15.00 to see Best Coast or Girls play something like the Troubadour. I have yet to listen to a single song in its entirety on the new Interpol album. Sad these guys had so much potential.

It's funny, a band like Interpol I want them to sound just like the album. Maybe I feel there is less to explore with them.

With the Bunnymen, I would love nothing better than an hour of experimental Love Tractor covers.

Saw them at Notts and Birmingham last month (tour just gone) which brings me up to about 10 times.Whilst overall the live show was very good.....the new stuff really doesnt fit into a live set that well because the BPMs are quite low.I really like the last album as a body of songs to listen to from start to finish but there are no real standouts(except Success) and playing Memory Serves second from last was a total bore tbh as its not up to scratch as a tune..But......we did get quite a lot of the first album played as an antidote and they played Take Me on Cruise in Brum which is one of my faves.

Same smoke out light show as Bunnies

Conclusion: a band in transition after Carlos has left and not likely to play much of the last album on the next tour.Keep the faith.
