Love that album.
and Scritti Politti's Green Gartside said the vocally gymnastic Fraser was his third favourite melodicist of all time (behind Paul McCartney and Brian Wilson).

Has any band ever had a better first three-album run than Blue Lines - Protection - Mezzanine?

The show will re-imagine Mezzanine twenty one years on from its release

As to lineups - its a bit like the bunnymen - a small number of official ones and not all of those recognised or approved of by former members (members, lol) or the general public. Plus there's the solo years and the odd collaboration of course. There was even a very short lived reformation of a classic lineup and it was great for a short while - a few greatest hits gigs, and the occasional reimagined B-side, but you know, didn't sit right futurewise. And I know it sounds a cliche but the current one is by far the best (not that I rank them).
