The Obligatory Contented of Hove Thread

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

Absolutely cracking gig. Nearly two and a half hours inc encore. Fairly heavy on skeleton tree and push the sky away, but all tge regular stuff too - tupelo, red right hand, stagger lee etc. Band as tight as a gnats chuff.

No support. Did have an email frimom the booking site about that. But took ages to get in with all the security, stopping off for a pint of watery fosters etc. Came on about two hours after doors open (didnt actually take us all that to get in).

And this is a fair enough review, inc the bit about the kid (at the end of the piece) is true.

Thanks again. They say there's going to be support in Paris but I hope there isn't.

I thought I posted the Guardian review. Time for another coffee.

Looked at the venue site. "Attention pas de première partie !" So, no support. Says it's going to be a 2 1/2-hour show. :jumping-smiley:

Whilst looking to see if there was any footage of last night - which of course there is, I kept coming across the glastonbury set from 2013
(mentioned before in this thread)

https://www.bbc.co.uk/events/ej58q9/pla ... z/p01dhcbh

This seems popular I guess because its where Nick has a bit of a moment with some not-unattractive lady in the audience sitting on someones shoulders close to the stage. Its in this video about 4:36 or so, though the full thing's on youtube - there's a similar bit in the live bit of 20000 days on Earth I believe, and its what he does generally these days, holding onto the front row and singing right at them. At the end last night when he was getting people out of the audience there were about two or three blokes but about 30 women, and that young kid (on youtube again) mentioned in the Guardian article.

Incidentally on the BBC footage - literally a few bars of a few songs, at about 4:28 they have a c;ose up of Warren Ellis gobbing a big green one high into the air - I bet MUmford & Sons don't do that.

Chez.
