The Raconteurs

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

That band rocks my world, and I got it bad for Jack White.

Great band. The backing guys are The Greenhornes who are from where I live, Cincinnati OH. You should check their stuff out too.

I've heard their stuff and like it. But the collab with JW takes it to another level, and they kill it.

Have you also heard the Jack White+Greenhornes backed Loretta Lynn album Van Lear Rose from 2004?

No, and you lost me at "Loretta Lynn". But if you like it, then I'll give it a chance.

Don't be dismissive if you don't like "country". If more "country" were like this rather than the "pop drivel with a country accent" that passes for country, the world be better off.

I do like me some Johnny Cash with "The Man Comes Around", but I'm not a fan of that genre. I chatted with a black woman many years ago who told me I was the first white person she met who didn't like country, and she would be able to say the same today. I just don't like it, and I have yet to hear anything that will make me change my mind.

I suppose it all depends on what your definition of country music is. There are quite a few bands considered "alt-country" like Wilco, Mumford & Sons and people like Beck that have recorded alt-country songs that I like but I don't care for any mainstream country. To me it's just pop music with an accent.

I like Mumford & Sons for a little while; I'm kinda into The Civil Wars.....I don't think I could actively listen to either for an extended period of time, but if it was background music that would be tolerable (I was going to say "like a coffee shop", but I don't drink coffee and have never patronized a such an establishment).
