Obviously these are meant to wind us up. Buns come in at 39, with you know what...

Geez, those NME people sure have a boner for New Order. I saw at least three videos in the categories I perused and two were in the Top Ten. It was also great to see Dead or Alive's "You Spin Me Round"....I still like that song.

i expected more stone roses and acid house from them, so new order / joy division was a bit of a suprise. Lots of hip-hop probably no such suprise, apart from NME writers are usually middle class white boys who wouldn't know ho from a biatch. (My kidslaugh at me when I attempt to be down with the kids by saying words like that. Quite rightly I suppose).

Used to go to a club in leeds that opened in the 80s, used to play all the good stuff with a bit of main stream and even metal thrown in and that spin me round record was always on. Quite liked it when i was off my face and before i saw what a tool the lead singer was. Marc Almond supposedly DJ'd there but might have been a runour. DJ booth was up in the sky and i was already pushing my luck being let in in the forst place. The 80s lineup Mrs FC use to like it there and she was a bit younger than me so I got in by association. Did get asked one night by the bouncer ' bit of analternative place this mate, you sure you want to go in?' lol.

That's the problem with the NME, mostly toffs and their website at least seems to confused over musical genres to cover. Don't know what the newspaper is like these days. Even if they had to ask what Father and Mother were into back in the day, during nights off from hockey practice and having to touch up Rupert/Pippa the head boy/girl in the shower block, at least there is variety in there. Some of the stuff I listened to is there as a non-Bunnymen and related band genres person back in the day (even Soul II Soul - yeah I went through a soul phase and not hip-hop as I didn't know ho from a biatch, still don't). It is in the wrong order though and a crime that Pat and Mick were not in the list.

Someone must do or it would be long gone. Shame.

i picked it up the other day fpor the john lydon interview, though haven't actually got round to reading it. Its far too reverential these days, but as its the last of the bunch still standing I expect they are wary of alientating fans oif the enxt big thing, therefore they think everything is wonderful - they refer to noel gallagher as 'the chief' for goodness sake. And their 'special' on him as 'a song writing geius'. Hmmm. Got a fair talent I'd say but genius would be going a bit far. Be interesting to see what happens if/when the morrissey court case happens.

Plus - 100 greatest records - gives you plenty of scope, too much really so nobodies going to be that upset - I mean we even got a bunnymen song in - yay!

It is 2012. So in the 80s this would be a list of the best songs of the 50s?

Dear lord we are old.

By the way Jesus and Mary Chain are doing a US tour of free outdoor concerts located near airports and dead lakes.

I got no problems getting older. When I was graduating high school in '87, the school had a sign reading "Welcome Class of '77". I remember thinking "Holy crap, those people are almost 30! They're SO OLD!" There isn't enough money in the world to take me back to my high school years, or the first few years out of college. I'm happy in my 40's. I spent most of my 30's pregnant and nursing , and while I enjoyed that, my body is back, it belongs to me only and the kids are old enough that I don't have to be at their beck and call.
