Rage Against the Machine for Xmas /Rage Against Simon Cowell

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

Did I mention they were the worst band ever?
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

fat cherry wrote:what do you mean by they? Supposedly started as a facebook campaign by a couple of fans and then the band themselves picked up on it. I'm not sure theres a conpiracy here but they aren't ging to complain about selling twice as many singles are they. Killing moon's a bit twee compared to fuck you i wont do what you tell me. Wouldn't have worked. bunny's natural apathy would have killed it anyway.

Unfortunately, the term "couldn't be arsed" applied to the Bunnies far to often. I've said they were too punk for that kind of thing, but they really didn't swear enough to be punk. What, 1 song with an outright sh*t on HUH and Do It Clean occasionally got dirty with "I've got a handful of sh*t and then oh, yes Read It Books sometimes got "who wants love without the f*cks."

RATM, yeah, they swore. Whatever.

Fans that worked for Sony started it. Then we have a conspiracy.

Nothing says fuck the system like a 17 year-old song. "Killing in the Name Of" is older than most of the kids trying to buck the system. It's like in our day if we'd tried to kick Lionel Ritchie off the charts by making "Stairway to Heaven" a new hit.

Something truly new needs to come along, otherwise the pop machine will just keep a-rollin'

well it'll keep rolling anyway, just change its colours a little bit. Or something a bit new will come along and the 'machine' will emulate it. Thing is, cowell's formula will tire and people will start buying something else and watching something else - just as people eventually got bored of the stock aitken and waterman formula of the back end of the 80s and as they did of the guitar band thing in the 90s. Theres loads of syuff around at the moment if you look for it. My nearest town of any size is Oxford and its got a really active music scene, see bands every night if you want. Are any of them going t be famous and on the telly? Probably not, though some duo called Little Fish have just recorded an album in LA with some woman who is apparently a famous prdiucer. So you never know - though typically the local music rag is already shouting 'sell out' because they've added a keyboard player.

And as for the sony conspriacy thing, no those two dont workk for sony but apparently cowell did call them offer them a job. Sounds like a quote for the papers to me, but apparently they turned it down.

In they end they are pop songs - smae chord changes and melodies with different curtains. Like Marx said about religoin - Pop music is now the opiate for the masses. Or sade the opium you feed your people.

It keeps us from getting unruly or keeps are excitment confined to the stadiums and concert halls.

Interesting post. Sound anything like the history of a band we know? Kept trying to things that were a bit different and they were beaten to a pulp by the system.... Now if only they would go searching for the "lost chord" again... For now, it's somewhere on Porcupine, Heaven Up Here, and Ocean Rain. A little on Crocodiles too.
