now thats a good one. thats a newton quote isn't it, though isn't it oasis who used the singular shoulder? Whatever. Anyway one theory is that (and stop me if you've heard this one before) but one of newton's great rivals was a little squat bloke whose name evades me, but apart from giving himself an 'up' by associating himself with the 'giants' i.e., the great classical philospher scientists he's saying its nothing to do with the short arse bloke, and not really a modest declaration of, well you know, if it wasn't for those giant chappies. It was in New Scientist some time ago. Where's jack when you need a brainy bloke?
