Mr Brian: fill us in on all the "goings on" lately.

Frivank: it occurs to me to ask how you deleted all those posts. Did you make a script or something?

"For reasons I'd rather not discuss here" suggests a non-technical reason for the reset.

This further suggests it was done as a measure to remove posts from the forum.

If this is true, then it seems a discussion is in order, as this seems contrary to

"The only posts I will delete will be obvious spam posts, pornography or illegal activity, such as the selling of CD-R's of copywritten material or posting links to downloads of copywritten material, etc."

No posts were deleted by me directly. The forum just went back in time.

That policy you cite above is in regard to me manually deleting posts I do not agree with for whatever reason and stems from the policy of the BOF at the time. Trust me, there have been many times I would have liked to delete posts that were vulgar or insulting to me and others. This is a different situation.
I made a decision to replace the database with the last known backup, because Frank the Bunny decided to manually alter 100's of his own posts and indicated to me he would continue to do so until all 3000+ of them were replaced with "deleted". To me that was just an act of vandalism that trashes the forum since he was a very active member. I have also disabled that particular account.

I like how even in serious posts we still refer to the official forum as the BOF.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

I didn't want to sit there and watch the forum turn into swiss cheese. When you post on a public forum you are participating in a public dialog that makes no sense if you remove big chunks of the conversation. One or two posts or hell even a dozen posts removals I can understand and I get but not hundreds or thousands. I had to make my decision quickly before i lost my window to do so.

I just wanted the posts to be gone. Not so much the posts, as the whole persona.

Mr. Brian, in his infinite wisdom, pointed out after the fact that I could have contacted him and had him delete FTB in a more orderly fashion. Wasn't really what I was after. There was something cathartic in the click-highlight-paste-submit, a hundred plus times over. I'd still be doing it now, if I hadn't been locked out of that account.

I'm not offering an apology, because I don't feel I owe one. Some of you may have gotten a glimpse at the reason for my actions before the clock was turned back. It was not a choice made out of logic. But it is not a choice I regret. Like I said, I'd still be deleting those posts now, If I had access to them... one by one.

I'm trying to imagine the exchange:

"Mr. Brian I'm going to eff up your stuff if you don't delete my posts. Bee tee dubs can I have a new account?"

Ivan's join date is from 2009. That's not a new account and Ivan is not banned...if I am taking your comment the way you intended.

So in a sense you were saying, "Mr. Brian, please delete my account"?

That is so spooky!

(Too soon?)
