Back to school supplies

Tired of discussing the Bunnymen and all the bands that have been influenced by them? This is the place for you.

Back to school supplies

I'm going to have to take a second mortgage out to fund the upcoming school year! When did this crap get so expensive?! I'm more irritated that the schools have color coded folders for classes than anything else, and they are too specific about what they want. Why can't they just use a cute puppy folder for math? It has to be plastic blue with pockets and brads? Give me a break.

Cute puppy folders?

No. Pee Chee was the only way to go.

And apparently now they have them in colors.

You're welcome.

The school supply items are for my girls, and I promise you with all the money in my bank account, none will want these folders, colored or not. On the plus side, they also didn't want any Justin Bieber folders/ notebooks/ locker items.

Or maybe they should all start coming over here.

Ivan and I had quite the discussion about meatloaf recipes last week. I surmise that, collectively, we also have many tips to share on stain removal.

I think the color coding just helps kids get the correct folders for class. When I was in school we remembered them by the band name doodles on them. AC/DC folder? That's Social Studies. The Clash? English class.

I would be surprised if kids their age even really knew who AC/DC and The Clash are/were....

Blood on the Dance Floor? Maybe.

That was just an example from my time period. They can use The Jonas Brothers and All Star Weekend if they like.

Never heard of it before today. We had Trapper Keepers(TM). Does that count?

Pee Chees were way before Trapper. Paper folders, ripe for the doodling. Afro on the basketball guy, relay baton becomes a stick of dynamite, color the tennis girl's panties, put someone behind the lines on the side like they're in jail, change the emblem "Pee Chee All Season Portfolio to "LOVE is PEE CHEE, but SEX is an ALL SEASON SPORT"

Then band logos, stickers, phone numbers, wads of gum, hidden answers to the upcoming test, etc etc
