read this over the weekend - about the good old days.

http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/olympics/the-olympics-its-not-like-it-was-in-the-old-days-7920012.html

Must say i'd at least go back the old style opening ceremony.
I particularly like:

were subject to a campaign by some of the expat community charging that they could not be amateurs because they were not gentlemen.

obviously that wouldn't stand these days wjhen you can go from winning wimbledon, straight (back to wimbledon) to compete in the limpics.

I'd like them to go like they did in 1936, not all that cheapskate Olympic rings on tower bridge and rubbish rural England opening ceremony nonsense. Goose-stepping athletes. Doves released into the arena, done sarcastically I presume given what was to happen several years later. A soon to be murderous mad leader of the host nation taking the salute. And the torch bearers are all Nazis rather than overweight 50 year olds in white shell suits, Jamie Oliver or Jedward.

And for Jamie Oliver. Bastards. Can't blame you for Jedward though. Nobody could have stopped those two.
